In reply to: seeing white screens when I try and access WP backendHi WPyogi-
Yes, I contacted my host provider and they suggested disabling the plugin. And they also increased my memory limit. So now I can view all areas on the backend. So it’s all fixed, I appreciate your help though.
Thanks!

I’m sorry. I just thought because it was related that it could help to keep similar lines of conversation together. I’ll do what you suggested.

In reply to: White screen – dashboard, widgets, plugins and themesHi,
I have a similar problem to .EssJay. I can view my site just fine but when I go into the backend to view the dashboard, try to edit a page, go to themes or any of the main menu options I get a white screen. I can’t even get to the backend. Note: This happened when I downloaded a plugin called register-plus-redux. .EssJay. – did the items you said you tried – are they good options or should I wait to see what others say?
Also, I just logged out and tried to login again and I can’t even access the login page – it’s a white screen.
Thanks,

In reply to: installed new version of WP now can't access pagesUpdate: 7/15:
I realized the reason my site was showing up differently was because my theme was not activated. So, now I am able to access the pages and view the website with the correct theme.

I did happen to notice upon looking at the wp-content folder that the date shows today – so it must’ve changed when I added that new file. So I wonder if getting it back to what it was would help matters?

In reply to: installed new version of WP now can't access pagesHi esmi,
With my theme having the word ‘old’ after it I figured I’d go in and upload a file that I needed to link to (once I could get everything working). Then I removed ‘old’ after the theme name and when I went to look at the site it’s showing up differently than it did before. It’s not displaying the site correctly. So I tried removing the file I added and logging out and refreshing the page and it still looks like the new layout (not what I want).
So I’ve decided I’m not going to mess with it until I hear from you. I appreciate your assistance in this. Thanks!

In reply to: installed new version of WP now can't access pagesHi esmi,
So I ran through the steps you gave and here’s what happened:
when I went to upgrade manually it said “No upgrade available – your WordPress database is already up-to-date.” When I hit continue I just got a white screen.
I then logged into WordPress and with my theme set as “old” I was able to access the Pages menu in WordPress no problem but my site is currently a white screen. But when I rename my theme back to what it was (without the ‘old’ after it) I am not able to access my pages menu panel like before but my website appears. So it’s like I’m stuck with either:
Having my site show up online but can’t make edits to pages OR
Have access to pages but no site showing up
Any ideas?
Thanks,

I appreciate the honest feedback. So should I just do all the steps you mentioned above starting with switching my current theme to the default theme and so on?
Also, in terms of what files I keep I should keep these??
wp-content folder
wp-config.php
.htaccessThanks for the help!

In reply to: installed new version of WP now can't access pages@esmi and everyone –
Here’s the problem from start to finish. I know it’s probably more than you need to know but it might help with finding a solution.:
Last week I backed up the site and installed the latest version of WordPress. However, upon installing it I wasn’t able to access any of the pages on the backend. So I attempted to start doing the solution above (provided by esmi) however upon talking to my boss he recommended I delete the files on the server and upload the backup files (old version) onto the server via Filezilla. Everything looked the same on my computer versus the server however when I tried to go to https://www.bestinfinity.com I get a page that says “The Page You Requested Is Not Available” (on Mozilla). If I try it on Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer weird spam pages come up. I called our hosting provider and he said that the new version broke the site however he had a backup of the site that he was able to reinstate it. But the issue still remains that although the site is now back up (from doing it my own way) I still can’t access the ‘pages’ panel within WordPress so I can’t make any edits. Has anyone else had problems like this with the new version of WordPress? Can anyone help me?
Thanks so much!

In reply to: installed new version of WP now can't access pagesOkay thanks. If I want to just go back to the version I was at can I just erase all files on the server and reupload the backup I did not worrying about those few files you mentioned (because they are in the backup)?

In reply to: installed new version of WP now can't access pagesHi esmi,
So is deactivating and resetting plugins the same thing? (the link you included with the heading “How to deactivate all plugins when not able to access the administrative menus?” talks about deactivating not resetting.
Okay, so I basically delete all files except for the wp-content folder and the new files I will install from the new install of WordPress will be all I need to reupload?
Thanks,

In reply to: installed new version of WP now can't access pagesHi esmi,
Okay, thanks for the quick reply.
When it comes to resetting the plugins folder how do I do that exactly? I know how to do it within WordPress by deactivating each one and testing the site but I’ve never done this before.
When I go to re upload all files/folders how do I avoid a blank site that will occur in the transition between deleting all files and then upload new ones? Do I literally delete all WordPress related files? I made a backup of all my files prior to installing the newest version. What do I push to the server from that (in addition to the fresh download of WordPress)?
How do I manually upgrade WordPress?
Sorry, I’m still fairly new to WordPress so please bear with me as I ask what is probably very newbie related questions. I appreciate your help!
Thanks,

Do I do all of the things you mentioned in sequential order or just one of them? I just wanted to make sure I understood you correctly.
Thanks,
