  • I also got this message. What are we supposed to do?

I had the same thing happen when I updated to WordPress 4.8. All of my counts changed to 0. The plug-in now counts only those FB “Likes” that occur via the Share plug-in, whereas before the update, any and all FB shares were included in the count.

    Hi Christina,
Yes, I caught that, too. Turns out that the culprit was the PHP v.2.17. I changed it to PHP 5.6.29 on the user’s account, and now the plugin activates!

Bluehost says its version of PHP v7 is in beta, so that’s why I went with v5.6.

I don’t understand how this is “resolved”. One of my client sites has this same issue: Limit Login Attempts is configured in the sidebar, but I can’t find it anywhere in the plug-ins listing. It doesn’t show up in the file listings via ftp either. Yea, GoDaddy is the host (not my choice). So, how do we disable and delete this?
    thanks, Anne

I had a problem, too, with v.0.6. I received an error message about the permissions for the folder “uploads > wp-migrate-db”. The message said to set the permissions to 755. Problem was that the permissions WERE set to 755.

So, I reverted back to v0.5 for both the live and local sites. BINGO! Everything worked smoothly.

I’m in the same boat creativewebdesigns03. I’ve done everything you’ve done, login attempts subsided for a few days, then started up again.

Next thing I did was install WP Google Authenticator plug-in. Again, login attempts subsided for a few days, then started up again today.

Now I’m going to ban certain IPs. …And then find myself another renaming plug-in. This one definitely has vulnerabilities.

There IS a way to use eNews Extended with Constant Contact. The CC html is inside the link “Share URL to form”. I found the best and most clear explanation of the steps you take in the post “How to Use Genesis eNews Extended with Constant Contact” By Sallie ~ 24th October 2014:

Thanks creativewebdesigns03. I’ve implemented the redirect and will use a new login location. We’ll see if the login attempts subside.

This plug-in should really protect against this. I might research other options in the meantime…

I’ve got the same thing happening on a client site. After installing rename-wp-login plug-in, attempts by hackers subsided for about a month. Then, the attempts started up again.

After reading this thread, I used the url with /wp-register.php and the registration page appeared (even though I also have registration disabled). I was able to log-in on that page. VERY DISCONCERTING!

How can we hide the wp-register.php page?

I’m fine with using the Google authenticator, but not sure if my client would be able to use it. They might not have a smart phone…

    Hi Mike,
Yes, I noticed that new “follow field” feature. It didn’t work for me in the way I wanted. I have the labels above the fields, and using that new feature placed the fields next to the labels. I’ll take a break and give it a try again later.
    thank you, Anne

Since I’m using Genesis (Optimal child theme), I researched a bit more and found a plug-in that does work, without causing any other problems: genesis-shortcodes.

Details are at this URL: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/genesis-shortcodes/

Their description (bold text is mine):

This file creates all the shortcodes used throughout a site. While there is an array of shortcodes that are packaged with Genesis, this plugin provides a few more shortcodes that are used for the purpose of developing sites and migrating sites. It also enables code to execute shortcodes in the text widget. Contains the following shortcodes: [post_field], [child_url], [wpurl], [url], [site_url], [uploads], [genesis_comments] & content columns shortcodes.

Thanks very much for your help.

    Hi Julius,
Thank you for the code. I created the new file as you described and installed it. I got this error message when I activated the plug-in:

The plugin generated 1 characters of unexpected output during
activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems
with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing
    this plugin.

Should I be concerned about this error message?

The Quiz plug-in does work in sidebars now, with 3 issues I can see so far:
    (1) when I edit the CSS file and click the “update” button, I get a blank screen. If I update the CSS file locally and then upload to the server, all is fine.
    (2) I cannot update a post.
    (3) I cannot create a new post.

These problems really affect the key functions that we need.

Yes, I used the text widget. When that didn’t work, I tried other widgets. No widget worked.

OK, I de-activated, deleted, and re-installed. Image #20 is now showing up today, which is Nov. 20. My images and settings were intact, so I guess the plug-in database was left alone. In a short while, it should change to Image #21. I’ll continue to monitor….
    Many thanks Opajapp.

    Hi Opajaap,
The image switches over at 6pm EST.

More importantly, however, is that the image no longer matches up with the day in the month. It worked for 3 days, then switched back to image #1 (for Nov. 1), rather than going to the next day (Nov. 18).

What might be causing this? An incompatibility with another plug-in?

We have “hidden” the site with the “ultimate-coming-soon-page” plug-in, so the public cannot see it while it’s in development. Any problems there? I cleared the cache, refreshed the screen, disabled the plug-in, but nothing helped.

    Thanks.
