It sounds like you may have seen the Pro version demo. The Pro theme includes 12+ or 15+ sections, while the free version comes with 2 sections. This is likely why you are seeing fewer elements on your homepage.

If you are interested in achieving the same look and feel as the Pro demo, upgrading to the Pro version would unlock the additional sections and features.
