In reply to: [WordPress.com Popular Posts] It's all gone away…Same experience. Would have been nice to get some notice that the Popular Posts plugin had been abandoned.
Getting the same error message for Ask. 2% is worth getting. If anyone finds a fix (or replacement plugin) please share.

In reply to: line break in pagesWhen I first started using WordPress, was shocked to learn that for entering a paragraph or line break, the ENTER key is ignored. You can manually add a break, with a “br” command but WordPress will filter it out later. Frustrating! I found a solution that doesn’t require coding. At the risk of being accused of spamming the site, I posted how to do it at How To Add a Paragraph Break in WordPress

In reply to: Drag/Drop of Widgets not working in 3.1?At the risk of being accused of spamming, I’m attempting to post this article link Drag and Drop Not Working which describes my experience with Use Google Libraries. Includes a comment from a person it helped.
When a better alternative is available, would love to hear it. So far haven’t seen one.

In reply to: Drag/Drop of Widgets not working in 3.1?Actually, the plugin Use Google Libraries is a solution. I’ve used it for five months to correct the drag and drop not working on menus problem, and it fixed several other problems. My load time is very fast. Would love to hear a better solution . . . if there is one. Until then, it works.

In reply to: Upgraded to 3.2 Visual editor buttons missingI use Tiny MCE Advanced and it seems to work fine with WP 3.2
I’m no expert but I found the plugin Use Google Libraries fixed HTML/Visual switching (pre-3.2) and other problems (menu not reorganizing with drag and drop).Forum: Plugins

In reply to: Successful 3.2 updates anyone?I was scared but so far have experienced an uneventful upgrade. See

In reply to: WP 3.2, Tinymce & toggle fullscreen modeThis is a tiny point, but I use Tiny MCE Advanced and, while the 3.2 fullscreen toggle button was automatically installed and works perfectly, the command Alt=Shift+G does not switch the screen. No biggee.
Overall, I’m delighted with Gershwin. https://blogsnewsreviews.com/2011/scared-to-upgrade-to-wp-3-2/

In reply to: Date shows incorrect in WP 3.2My post date appearance was reset by 3.2 installation. I had a custom setting showing only year (to save space per Yoast’s good advice). It was easy for me to reset in Settings>General to “Y”
In Permalinks>Common settings I have if set to /%year%/%postname%/Check out my blog on being scared to switch, which mentions this. If this is the worst that happens to me, I’ll be delighted!

In reply to: WordPress SEO Yoast – Duplicate Site TitleI did exactly this (and saved my original code in a Notepad file – great minds think alike). But I still get a double site title! See: https://blogsnewsreviews.com/ “Force rewrite titles” doesn’t fix it either.
I’m think of changing my WP tagline to, “The site so nice Yoast named it twice.”

In reply to: [WP Super Cache] Recomended configurationWP Super Cache plugin settings are in Details (in Install Plugins search on WP Super, and then read details. Have pasted settings section from Details below:
=====================================================
Recommended SettingsAdvanced users will probably want to use mod_rewrite caching, but PHP caching is almost as good and recommended for everyone else. Enable the following:
1. PHP caching.
2. Compress pages.
3. Don’t cache pages for known users.
4. Cache rebuild.
5. CDN support.
6. Extra homepage checks.Garbage collection is the act of cleaning up cache files that are out of date and stale. There’s no correct value for the expiry time but a good starting point is 1800 seconds if you’re not using legacy mode. If you are using that mode start with an expiry time of 600 seconds.
If you are not using legacy mode caching consider deleting the contents of the “Rejected User Agents” text box and allow search engines to create supercache static files.
Likewise, preload as many posts as you can and enable “Preload Mode”. Garbage collection will still occur but it won’t affect the preloaded files. If you don’t care about sidebar widgets updating often set the preload interval to 2880 minutes (2 days) so all your posts aren’t recached very often. When the preload occurs the cache files for the post being refreshed is deleted and then regenerated. Afterwards a garbage collection of all old files is performed to clean out stale cache files. With preloading on cached files will still be deleted when posts are made or edited or comments made.
See the WP Super Cache homepage for further information. Developer documentation is also available for those who need to interact with the cache or write plugins.
