Hello. I already have Javascript Adder in ALL my WP sidebars. Since update to WP 3.3, Javascript Adder doesn’t seem to work any more. Only ONE instance per sidebar will work. Additional instances are ignored. Existing instances (prior to WP 3.3 update) stop working as soon as you try to edit them. Adding a new instance to the sidebar results in an empty, blank block.

I have a slew of WP sites with non-functioning sidebars. Will you be updating Javascript Adder to be compatible with WP 3.3?

P.S. Plugin developers like SATOLLO who refuse to reply to users about plugins they post here which DO NOT WORK, should be simply BARRED after reasonable notice from WordPress that they MUST REPLY to their plugin users. Developers who post BROKEN plugins, or plugins with zero intelligible instructions in ENGLISH on these ENGLISH pages, should be barred, PERIOD.

Why don’t we just cancel the request. Obviously, the bureaucrats prefer delays and technicalities, rather than actually helping, so these cards can’t get on line with a week to go to Christmas, and no time left to publicize them, either.

What is more important about every element of WordPress is setting up BARRIERS to people, and frankly, WordPress is one BIG FAT BARRIER from start to finish with endless bogus broken plugins RECOMMENDED BY WORDPRESS itself, which is how I got this broken piece of e-card junk in the first place. Plugins come in pidgin English, or no instructions, or by Charlatans who get their name around on a FREE link without being required BY www.ads-software.com to meet any REAL standards before posting their half-baked plugins and throwing us users to the dogs. The truth is, WordPress is just for developers, an elite little crowd who can charge their clients a fat fee by the hour no matter how many hours it takes, and the rest of us can just “plug” along as we may, and good luck!

WORDPRESS should REMOVE all plugins it currently recommends in its pages here that DO NOT WORK, or that have NO INTELLIGIBLE INSTRUCTIONS.

Hi. I have another gripe with the paypal “button” establishment. I have been using a beautiful looking widget from paypal labs, which requires you to login to your paypal account so the widget you create links to your account data. I recently found “odd” things happening to my widget. i.e., you MUST instal ONLY a remotely hosted image in your widget, you can’t host it at paypal, and yet my widget image was being changed beyond my control.

I used a url from Photobucket, and the image always worked well. Then, I decided to change the image, update it. All worked well. Couple of days later, to my surprise, the OLD image is back. I cleared my cache, the old image was still back. I logged into paypal labs and checked my widget – the url was there for the right pic, but the wrong image was showing up.

To remedy this, I was forced to make a new widget from scratch with the new image on the new url. All worked fine. Couple of weeks later, I decided I didn’t like that image, I would change it. I logged into paypal labs only to find (a) I was indeed auto-logged into my paypal account at the same time, but (b) oddly, “not” having access to my new widget, so I could not change the url to change the picture.

I solved the problem using Photobucket. I logged in there and BROKE the existing url by moving the widget pic to a different directory. I then uploaded a new image to the old directory, and gave it the name of the old image so the url in my paypal widget that I could not access to change, was now updated by changing the image in Photobucket. Cleared my cache, the new pic showed up fine in my paypal widget.

24 hours later, I was surprised to find the “old” picture back in my same paypal widget in the same site where it had always been embedded. I checked the site; if this was a cache problem, why had no other web site changes been affected? I cleared the cache a few times, no luck, still the wrong old pic in my paypal widget. I rebooted, cleared the cache again, no change. Wrong (old) picture in the widget.

I logged into paypal to check the image. THIS TIME, I could not access my widget account despite being in actual fact logged in.

Now, I logged into Photobucket. The new image was still on the url which I had originally fed into my paypal widget. The old image was still in the different directory I had moved it to. No way the old image could show up in my widget.

Now, just to prove a point, I deleted the old image from Photobucket, so there is no possibility of its showing up by accident in my paypal widget. Cleared the cache a few times again. No change, paypal widget still the OLD image which I had first moved to another directory, breaking the url, and had now deleted.

Pictures CANNOT show up in these widgets unless you install them with a url. So, how was this OLD image still showing up, but NOT the new one on the correct url? If clearing the cache repeatedly had no effect at all, then someone else has to be hosting my OLD image and somehow remotely overriding the correct url in order to show the old image instead of the new one.

Given this kind of a problem with the paypal labs widget, I wouldn’t trust it to handle my money. I have therefore removed it from my web site. Which is too bad, because it’s a beautiful flash widget, nicest on the internet.

However, it seems to me the code is also a problem. This widget appears to completely encode your paypal ID and data in a way that you can’t identify what this script actually contains. For all I know, someone could remotely seize this script and redirect incoming donations, if they can fool around and redirect my images. This is the paypal labs widget script, for anyone who’s interested in playing with it:

Powrhost.com is supposed to be free unlimited. It seems there’s about 13 megs of space used in my public_html wordpress directory for “https://dreamthemes.x11s.org/WP/“

I just tried FTP instead… same issue. Can’t create directories, Disk Quota Exceeded.

The big surprise about https://www.powrhost.com is that the person who owns it is a 16-year-old kid. He linked his web site in an initial email a long time ago. It had pics of him declaring himself “super teen affiliate”.

He presents himself as an expert at making money online.

He obtained his powrhost account from a US-based provider who allows people to become web hosts free of charge. So, I don’t know which level — the 16-year-old Hegedus or the company he got his web-host account from — is responsible for correcting problems.

Nothing seems to get fixed in Powrhost, and also, for awhile, my own laptop IP was being blocked so I had no access to my own account in Powrhost. I thought Powrhost was down for repairs because I had told him about the problems. Then one day, I happened to turn on my VPN, and bingo, my account materialized again, and when I shut off the VPN, my account disappeared again.

I wonder if this is a kid’s prank. Is he playing with my account, and finding different creative ways to shut me off?

Do you know of a decent, ad-free WordPress host with script installer? I have about 5 WordPress blogs in development. I’m going to have to move them all.

Does anybody know if the gallery function works with other types of documents?

I would love to be able to upload a slew of pdf, swf or flash documents and have a page for each auto-generated with the document embedded in it on display. Boy, would that be fantastic.

Right now, we are dependent on outside hosting systems that change their format and look beyond our control, i.e., scribd and calameo for two.

I would love to be able to easily and quickly host my own documents my way, and have my own design. Any WP programmers out there, please keep it in mind! Thanks.

Hi, this is interesting, thank you. However, all the auto-generated media pages with each image in it have no option I can see to add that media-post to a category or give it tags. I count on the categories to auto-create pages for a range of specific themes for my visitors. And I count on the tags so they can find specific themes by values like name, color, number of columns, etc.

Also, the auto-generated media posts appear to bypass the design command to add a certain kind of border around images. For me, that’s part of the look of my pages, which is available for posts and pages but strangely not for media pages. So I am probably gonna have to do all this manually, and individually create the image-posts in order to get my desired outcome.

But I will keep the gallery information in mind for future, thank you very much.

Oh, crap. That’s what I had done. Was trying to bold & increase size & change color of a title, so switched to see if it would help, no good, switched back. All code f’d. I have given up and stripped it all out. Two days’ work flushed. Unbelievable. Why don’t they have backup retrieval inside this thing? Like system restore on a laptop, you could just hit the button & revert. I can’t believe they would do this to people.
