In reply to: 3.3.2 update won't loadThanks. I’d prefer to update automatically, which I have always been able to do before.

In reply to: ymemor error messageI’ve downloaded FileZilla. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I have to call BlueHost to see if they can help.

In reply to: ymemor error messageI used #1. It doesn’t work. I’ll try #2.
1. By using your cPanel, or whatever file manager is provided by your host.
2. By using an FTP or SFTP client. This guide will show you how to use FileZilla.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: ymemor error messageBy FTP, are you talking about the upload option in the file manager? I can use it to browse my hard drive and find the files, but I don’t see anyway to upload. My only option is cancel, and there’s a button for ‘open”, but it’s not active.
I haven’t deleted the folders yet. I renamed them by adding “.hold” to the names.

In reply to: ymemor error messageWhen I upload those folders, do they automatically overwrite or delete the old folders?

In reply to: ymemor error messageI’m not sure where the WordPress folder is on the server. When I click on file manager in the BlueHose Control Panel, I see the wp-includes and wp-admin folders. Is this what I need to replace? There are not in a WordPress folder that I can see.
It looks like I’m using version 2.8.4 .

In reply to: ymemor error messageOK. I already increased available memory from 32 to 64, then to 128.
This all started when I tried to upload the add-to-any plugin to wp-contents/plugins. But I could only open the folder I was trying to upload. There was no clear way to click on upload.
So I tried the add new plugin function in WP admin.
Can you remind me how to separate out two folders from a fresh download of WP and upload them? I’m assuming they go to WP-contents.
Do I download WP to my desktop?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: ymemor error messageI did that yesterday. Didn’t help.
I also tried renaming plugins to plugins.hold, and creating an empty folder called plugins. But I’m not sure how I can “login to” my WP admin page if my site is down.
I’m trying to use phpMyAdmin, per WP’s advice, but the instructions aren’t very good. They read:
WP also gives this advice:
* Use phpMyAdmin
o In the table wp_options, under the option_name column (field) find the active_plugins row
o Change the option_value field to: a:0:{}I’m in phpMyAdmin (via BlueHost CP), but I don’t see a table that says wp_options.

In reply to: Trouble uploading plugin to directory and activatingMy backup just completed and the size is just over 64 MB. That might be the problem. I increased the memory from 32 to 64 mb about an hour ago.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Trouble uploading plugin to directory and activatingI tried uploading the plugin folder to wp-content/plugins, but I could only open the folder and, I guess, upload individual files. With no clear directions on which files to upload, I opted for the add new plugin function in WP admin.
I’m trying to back up my WP files for my blog, but that’s taking forever, too.

In reply to: Trouble uploading plugin to directory and activatingNot sure if I have. It’s been a while.
Another comment string says to add this:
* AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
to the htaccess file. Not sure where that file is, or if the space before .php is a typo. Or the asterisk.

In reply to: Plugin install stuck at “Unpacking the package.”Regarding this code:
* AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
Is the space before .php a typo? Is the * and space part of the code?
Also, where is the .htaccess file?
Thanks!
