On several search on google and wordpress blogs and forums i found out that
Caller – update_meta_cache() is the problem maker here
Its calling for so many queries at one time , that it literally crashed your wordpress if you have a shared server ..
This was never a problem unless we updated this to 5.5
How can we filter out or disable it

This is an extension problem ..
Go to your cpanel of your hosting provider
    Select PHP Version
    you will see 3 options
    Tap On Extensions
You will see a lot of PHP extentions there
If you have selected ” gmagick ” , uncheck it and select ” imagick ”
    Vice Versa
log out of your wordpress and login again and this time the error message will not be there ..

Not sure @clorith if that is the case .. i also got my update stuck on Unpacking the update…
After that , i have to install the plugin to fix another update in process , unlock the update ..
and then manually do it ..
Auto update is always convenient ..
I am on a dedicated server by hostgator with 32gb ram , but still it got stuck ..
Seems to be a problem with update package though !!
