I found this thread after searching for a solution to the problem of a; username, password, or hostname error message on first install with network solutions. I was certain the username & password were correct.
In the database manager, after you create your database. Go back to it, click on the blue database name link and grab the ip address
listed & use that for for DB_Host
/** MySQL hostname */
define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘xxx.xxx.xxx.xx’)
This worked for me.
I did not enter any ftp info as listed above, only database info.
I was installing WordPress 3.2.0
