In reply to: [Advanced Editor Tools] Classic Editor disappears when paging downJust tried this in Firefox too when I was in my WordPress site
On the post editor screen, click on the Screen Options menu on the top right corner of the screen. This displays a flydown menu with a number of options. Uncheck the box next to ‘Enable full-height editor and distraction-free functionality’. Unchecking this option will disable the full-height editor functionality
All up and running as was
Thanks again

In reply to: [Advanced Editor Tools] Classic Editor disappears when paging downHi Andrew
Many thanks for that, it was Firefox causing the problem – good call.
I’ve just opened up WordPress with Chrome (although it took forever to open up and load pages) and the editor does stay in view constantly wherever I am on a page.
I will try the workaround link next, if it works, great, if not, you’ve put me on the right path to easily continue.
Cheers

In reply to: …refused to connectDear Aleks
Sorry that I’m unable to help with your question. I have just come across your post. I do have a question of my own to ask via WordPress Support but after spending at least an hour going round in circles, I still cannot find a link to enable me to start a New Topic.
Obviously you have just done this in the last hour.
Can you please send me a link or info on how to do this please as it really isn’t as easy as it sounds and after searching for a good while now
Many thanks

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Google Drive needs access tokenDec 17 2017
Dear all
I have been having the same problem as many other people regarding the not able to backup my WordPress website using UpdraftPlus (free version)
It has worked fine for many months with no problems at all but after updating WordPress to the newest version and all Plugins I have the same problem as lots of you.I followed everything in the link below to the letter to try to rectify the problem:
https://updraftplus.com/support/using-updraftplus-google-drive-app/I got right to the very end where it shows the Orange UpdraftPlus Box and clicked on ‘Complete Setup’ (whereby I see code showing successful access token) which took me back to my own WordPress site
Tried to once again to do a Back Up with Updraft Plus.
It showed ‘backup in progress’ and Creating file backups etc etc as if it was working and then once again I get the messages:
Waiting until scheduled time to retry because of errors
Have not yet obtained an access token from Google – you need to authorise or re-authorise your connection to Google Drive.
I am also going to cancel automatic backups too as I keep 20 backups only. When the new backups fail it will push the old (good) backups off the end and I’ll just be left with incomplete failed ones instead.
It does seem strange that so many people have had what is now a very longstanding problem and no real easy fix appears to be on handI also completed the task whereby it states on my WordPress site – ‘Authenticate with Google’
I see the (you appear to be already authenticated though you can authenticate again to refresh your access if you’ve had a problem). Follow this link to remove this site’s settings for Google Drive.
Again I do everything to the letter, following all the prompts. Everything comes back OK but I get the same results as above whereby I need my Google Access Token etcDo I need to totally uninstall UpdraftPlus and reinstall as following all advice read to date in the Forum does not appear to work for me?
It’s driving me mad with constant tries and getting nowhere after spending many hours on this so far.Any advice please keep simple as I am not a web developer just a fairly handy amateur.
Regards
Mike
Will do – cheers Steve
Update on above post:
Site was the same this morning totally dead and links unavailable. I ended up getting in touch with my host (123.reg) who said there was a compatibility problem with 2 of my plugins. My site has always been good until I updated plugins and WordPress a few days ago. They disabled the Plugins but they are needed for my contact forms to work.
I’ve now paid 123.Reg £40 to return the site to how it was on Friday the 13th Oct ??.
Didn’t want to do this but seemed the easier option and have the site up and running again, as was, within 24hours.Trouble is from now on when updating WordPress and or current plugins how do I know this is not going to happen again?
I think I will stop WordPress automatic updates but this is a problem in itself which could cause compatibility issues further on. It works in exactly the same way in updating plugins and their compatibility with the current version of WordPress.
I don’t know what is the best option – update or don’t update when newer versions are ready for either WordPress or any Plugin that I require?
Thanks for you response Steve
Re your comment ‘enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log’
After logging into my WordPress site, nothing that I pick on actually does anything. It’s like all links are dead. I would post a screenshot of what I can see but it doesn’t look like I can do so on this Forum?
I am only an amatuer at this too so may possibly not fully understand what I may see if I got into the ‘wp_debug’ logs etc
I will try to contact my host at 123.reg today for Support enclosing your reply too in the hope it’s something fairly simple.
Thanks again
