1. Go to Posts->Categories and add categories (For example: portfolio and photography).
2. Go to Posts->All posts, click “Quick edit” for a post and select the appropriate category for the post. Click “update”. Do the same for each of the posts.
3. Go to Appearance->Menus and select the drop down called “Categories”. You should see the 2 categories you added. Select your “Photography” or “Portfolio” category and click the “Add to menu” button.
4. The chosen category will appear in the list of menus. You can click and drag it around to make it a main menu or sub menu (with a little indentation).
