You can deactivate download link from settings panel and ‘advanced options’ from the ‘insert file popup’. We will consider adding option for external link in our next release.

That’s right. Google Docs Viewer does not support locally hosted files. Files should be available online with no access restrictions.

It looks like WordPress Media uploader by default restricts SVG and AI files. We will fix it and release an update asap.

The issue looks fixed now with Google Docs Viewer’s recent update.
Though you can choose Microsof Office Online option as default viewer to override the issue.
