Look at Buddypress and look at the plugins for buddypress, it should be able to do most for you.

TC, that domain you checked for the dns is the sub domain. I checked on the same page the dns for the main domain and its perfect.

Yes the sub domain which is ie.salesd.com, has the latest version.I think 3.3. the main domain salesd.com is just that, a domain name pointed to the .ie sub domain

https://www.salesd.com which I have it directed to ie.salesd.com.

No I have not asked my host as I did not think it was anything to do with hosting. I thought something went wrong when I transferred it. Do you think I should ask them?

So basically, I need to back up the database, download it to my computer, using filezilla, and then upload it to the new host.

Why I thought it was files, filezilla uploads files, I assume then they can upload the database? I assume the files are in the database because when I switch on filezilla it shows files. Or am I just miles off here?

I understand about the wp-config file it was how to point the domain to the correct database. But I think I got that one.Set up the domain name first on the new host, then set up the data base.

Just to clarify one thing. I am keeping the domain in my present host and want to move the files to the new host, to the new database which I have set up.
Am I reading this right
Note: If you are changing to a new server but same domain, all you need to do is edit wp-config.php and upload everything as it is to your new server.
So all I have to do is download the files, change the wp-config.php details to the new data base and upload the files to the new host (database) Is this correct?

I know to back everything up, when I download the files, is the site still showing,when I download the files, before I upload to the new host.I am asking this, as I downloaded a file as a test, and even thought the file was on my computer, the same file was still showing in my file manager.

lastly, when I point my domain to the new host, when I have all the files uploaded, how do I point in directly to the new database.

At the moment the categories are there in a drop down where the posters click on the category they want to post.
I have some many categories that the posters get fed up looking in the present drop down they just post to any category.

I would like a page that lists the categories, for example
wordpress
themes plugins cms

www.ads-software.com
themes plugins cms

Then they can go down the list and click on the category that they want to post in. This way its easier for them to see the categories. (I have over 400 categories)

Just an update, DavidM on the code he has giving, it gets rid of the video link, which I wanted, so if like me you want to keep the video, keep this line out, #bpfb_addVideos{display:none;}

Last point which would realy make my day, Could I put some wording beside the video link, for example “Click here to show a video on your activity page”
