In reply to: [SendPress Newsletters] [Plugin: SendPress] 500 Internal Server Error@josh Lyford,
I did not check the error logs this time around. I’m not exactly sure how to do that yet, on this new GoDaddy Service. The service I was using, the first time all this happened, was a dedicated, private server. I set it up how I wanted it to work. The biggest bonus on all that was I knew where everything was. When I switched to GoDaddy, the price went down, but I haven’t quite figured out the ins and outs of their service yet.
Also, I wasn’t holding my breath that the error would just show up, especially with a new install. Though, with a little time and some use, it just may.
If you get to a point where you’ve exhausted all the ideas you can come up with, to replicate the issue, let me know.
As for Sucuri…
If you can get them to certify your plugin, I believe you’ll have a major player in the WordPress Plugin Community. Some people take the fact that all the “FREE” plugins are already secure, in their own right, but they’d be wrong!

In reply to: [SendPress Newsletters] [Plugin: SendPress] 500 Internal Server Error@josh Lyford,
Yes, all three websites were running SendPress 0.8.8 (latest). This time, the issue started after an upgrade from WordPress 3.4.2 to 3.5 (latest). Last time, I think this all started when upgraded SendPress from one version to the next.
The Plugin list is a little longer than before, but mostly due to the add-ons to Genesis and Gravity Forms. To be clear, I test all plugins, in a test environment, set up as a duplicate version of https://bamajr.com before I install them on the production version, of the Bamajr.com website. When looking for compatibility issues, sometimes it is hard to know what to look for. Again, though, I never noticed any issues, prior to updated to WordPress 3.5, this time or prior to updated SendPress, the previous incident.

This link shows all plugins, I’m using, except JetPack. I was able to successfully uninstall it, completely.

In reply to: [SendPress Newsletters] [Plugin: SendPress] 500 Internal Server Error@josh Lyford,
I’m a little hesitant to open my website up for you to test in, but I know that is probably the best way for you to see what is going on. Let me think about that a little.
In the mean time, here is the error screen I get when I try to uninstall SendPress. Let me restate this for clarity. SendPress deactivates correctly and the problem goes away, but when I try to uninstall SendPress, I get the following error(s): https://bamajr.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/sendpress-uninstall-php.png

Bad news man…
So After going through all of the above, it seems SendPress is causing similar/same issues again.
I’m going to back up a little and try to explain the circumstances, because now I’m getting the same/similar problem, on two production websites and one test website. Still, I cannot find the issue, even going back through this thread, from the beginning.
Let me catch you up…
In my last post (above) I said “I manually cleared out all the SendPress entries in the database.” I also said “I set up a new WordPress installation and did the export/import, of both WordPress and WordPress SEO.” I told you that when I installed all the same plugins, SendPress installs and activates without a problem.
Ok…
At the point when I said I set up a new WordPress installation, I switched from a small hosting company, to GoDaddy’s Linux Hosting. So, my new WordPress installation is running on GoDaddy’s system, now. Shortly after all this happened, I moved a client’s website over to the same Linux Hosting system, from GoDaddy.
Both websites are using the Genesis Framework now, when they weren’t before, but both websites are running the same plugin set which I was using, all through the history of this issue.
When I upgraded both of these websites to WordPress 3.5 both websites (and a test/non-production website), immediately started having major performance issues and I started getting a familiar “500 Internal Server Error” (See: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/slow-website-after-wp-35-upgrade for my initial post about WordPress 3.5). This time, though the errors were occurring in the WordPress Admin and not the public facing pages.
Remembering this error, from this thread, I deactivated SendPress on all three websites, and immediately the “500 Internal Server Error” went away. Then, when I uninstalled JetPack, the performance of all three websites was back to normal.
I know it is really hard to sandbox a plugin, when there are so many other combinations of plugins, people can be using. However, somewhere, within the SendPress code, there has to be something which isn’t working quite right.
I might suggest starting with https://sucuri.net and obtaining the “Sucuri Safe Plugin” certification. My guess is that they will find a few minor things, similar to what happened to the WordPress SEO plugin. However, they could also find issues where SendPress code could be interfering with or interfered by other plugins.
Plain and simple… I’d love to use your plugin and if you read my rating, you know I’m an advocate of what you are trying to accomplish with SendPress. I just don’t understand why an uncomplicated installation, with a basic plugin set, is causing such problems.
P.S. Sorry this follow-up post is so long.
Sorry about the delay in responding. I ask because I’m developing a plugin, which also uses the MaxMind Database and I see no reason to download it twice. So, I was interested in piggybacking off of the MaxMind Database, already downloaded by StatPress.
Does that make sense?

In reply to: SLOW website after WP 3.5 UpgradeSo, I didn’t go through the manual update process, but after deactivating both SendPress and JetPack, on all the afore mentioned websites, the performance magically returned. So, while these websites are performing like they should now, I can’t factually say which was at fault; WordPress 3.5, JetPack, SendPress, or a combination of two or three. I can say, WordPress 3.5 is now working fine, without JetPack or SendPress.

In reply to: SLOW website after WP 3.5 UpgradeIf something went wrong, the exact same thing went wrong on multiple installations. I don’t believe in coincidence.

In reply to: [IntenseDebate Comments] [Plugin: IntenseDebate Comments] Buttons and MenusThanks for your input. If I ever have time to play with this plugin again, I may try your recommendation. It’s been such a waste of time, in the past, though, I’m not sure when I’ll get around to it.

In reply to: [WP Customer Reviews] Button Text Unable to be ChangedThis seems to be a glitch related to the “Show review form:” option. If this box is unchecked, I can change the “Button text used to show review form:” to my new text. However, the button text will not update with this box checked.
Also, there seems to be some type of over-riding style, applied to the text, of the “Button text used to show review form:” which prevents it from being in all-caps.

In reply to: [WP Customer Reviews] Make the Review form mobile responsiveVery good idea. It annoys me when plugin/theme developers don’t take the mobile screen sizes into account.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] Viable Analytics Plugin for WordPressIf there was one thing about this plugin I would fix, it would be to give it its own space, below the “DASHBOARD” similar to what JETPACK or STATCOM does. There is just so much stuff added to the dashboard, making it really cluttered.

5. The organization of days, in the Hours of Operation should be adjustable, or at the very least, based off the theme’s settings for “Week Starts On” so that Sunday can be at the top, or the bottom of the list.
6. Remove and refrain from using deprecated HTML.

In reply to: [Rich Contact Widget] No control over displayThe list works… I’m not saying it doesn’t. However most people do not want list styles next to each line, of their businesses (or personal) contact information. Sure, one could add:
.fn { list-style:none; }
…to their CSS. but why?
I think most people would prefer that their business name and address show up like so:
Bamajr.com
8362 Tamarack Village
Suite 119-455
Woodbury, MN 55125… by default, rather than:
- Bamajr.com
- 8362 Tamarack Village
- Suite 119-455
- Woodbury, MN 55125
Maybe I’m the only one who thinks that, I don’t know. Just seems like it would be easier to use, right after the install, if customization wasn’t immediately needed.
