Hi. I’ve found your plugin works brilliantly. I especially like that it detects all YouTube iframes on a page.

However, I’m inserting my YouTube video using the YouTube API script. This is because I want to track events when the video is played, and watched all the way through. I can only do that when inserting the code with the API.

What I’m finding is that the script still inserts an iframe, but the FluidVids plugin is not detecting that iframe. If I insert a normal YouTube iframe directly FluidVids works. But when inserting it using this script it doesn’t work.

Is there anything that can be done to make FluidVids work with the YouTube API script?

I just found an alternative way that would mean we don’t need to use the YouTube API code, but instead could just use FluidVids as is and still track all clicks. However I couldn’t get it to work on my site. But you could have a look and it might be an easy add-in for your plugin – https://www.lunametrics.com/blog/2012/10/22/automatically-track-youtube-videos-events-google-analytics/

I see why Fluidvids will not work for the first example as it does not contain a url.

I am not keen on the second solution as it needs jQuery and that means loading a second file. I unfortunately cannot make a plugin out of it as the code is not GPL compatible which is required if the plugin was to be uploaded to www.ads-software.com

Sorry, I’ve just seen that the page I included the link for didn’t actually show up.

Here’s the test page I set up:

There are 2 videos on there. The first one uses the API technique. It DOES have a URL, but only after the javascript runs. The javascript creates an iframe, just like a normal iframe, but also listens to YouTube for clicks.

But I’ll have a look at that tag manager article. Thanks.
