    Hi, @minutten.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having difficulty with a similar error and that you’re unable to login to your site’s wp-admin. Thanks for getting in touch so we can help.

Thanks for chiming in, @selad. You’re correct that you can try manually removing the plugin either by:

    • Logging in to your site via FTP and deleting/renaming/moving the directory named /wp-content/plugins/posts-data-table/ .
    • Logging in to your site’s cPanel and finding the File Manager and performing the same procedure described above.

You should then be able to login to your wp-admin. Update the PHP to Version 5.3 or higher/newer up to 7.3. Then reinstall Posts Table with Search & Sort from Plugins > Add New.

Please let me know how this goes. Marking this thread resolved for now.

    Hi, @selad.

Thanks for your reply (just saw it now). I’m glad to hear updating to PHP 7 resolved the issue. Kudos to @sip33.

    Cheers!

    Hi, @selad.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having difficulty with a Fatal Error when trying to install the plugin on your site that’s on WordPress 5.3. Thanks for getting in touch.

We have already tested all our plugins, including the free ones, on test sites that run on the latest version of WordPress and found they work as expected and are compatible.

Hence, the issue you’re experiencing is likely isolated to your site.

A similar Fatal Error was also being experienced by @sip33, who already has the plugin installed and working on their site prior to updating WordPress. After having done so, the error displayed and the posts table no longer displayed.

As mentioned in their reply (many thanks and well done!), the issue was resolved by updating the PHP version on their site from 5.1 to 7.3. Note that the plugin details show it to be tested for PHP Version 5.3 or higher/newer (PHP 7.3 compatible).

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes. I’ll mark this as resolved for now.

    Hi, @alex845.

Thanks for the additional info to help clarify the issue.

The delay in loading the Posts Table CSS is due to the amount of data for all the 4200+ posts that gets pulled from your site’s WP dbase into the table on page load. All the data in the table is being loaded into the web browser when the page first loads.

We addressed this performance issue in Posts Table Pro version to take the strain off the web browser by adding loading the table data values one table page at a time via the Lazy Load feature. Please see: Lazy load option for tables with many posts.

As for this free Lite version, aside from the workarounds already implemented, I’m afraid there’s not much else I can suggest and all I can do is apologize and hope you understand.

Should you have any other concern that I may help you with, please let me know. Until then, I will mark this thread as resolved.

    Hi, @alex845.

Thanks for getting in touch and for your follow-up/update. Yes, you could achieve it that way, if it works for your requirements. Well done on the workaround!

I’m afraid in order to be able to sort the date column, it has to be displayed/shown in the table so that users can click on the column heading’s sort arrows.

Please could you check if this CSS selector (which I modified from the pro version of the plugin, Posts Table Pro) will work for you:

    table.dataTable tbody td?.col-date

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

    Hi, Steve.

Thanks for your review. I’m happy to hear you’re able to make good use of our Posts Table Pro plugin, as well as our detailed and extensive Knowlegde Base articles.

I’m sorry to hear of your experience with our support team. As a senior member, I reviewed your recent support requests regarding the issue you reported. From the timestamps of the replies, I believe the sluggishness you described can be attributed to the time difference between your location and our UK business hours (one of your replies was sent late on a Friday night) + our lack of weekend support hours. Your support request and follow up messages were attended to and the issue was resolved on the Monday morning, UK time.

We’ll take this as feedback for the possibility of including weekend support hours.

Should you have any other questions or concerns that we may assist you with, please let us know.

    Many thanks.

I’m afraid the plugin doesn’t display comments made on items in your site’s Media Library attachment pages. You’re the first person to request it, so I have added it to our feature request list and will let you know if we develop this in future. We add new features based on a combination of demand, difficulty and impact.

In the meantime, I’m sorry that this isn’t possible.

Hi again, @lewislogan. Likewise, thanks for yours.

I’m happy to hear you figured out it was a column option for the pro version that was causing the issue. Well done! Thanks for sharing the solution and setting this as resolved.

Should you have any other questions, just let me know.

If it isn’t too much trouble, I’d love it if you would please be so kind as to add a review for Posts Table with Search & Sort at https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/posts-data-table/

    Many thanks!

    Hi, Lewis.

Thanks for using our plugin and sorry to hear you’re having difficulty with displaying a table sorted by date.

Please may I know the shortcode you’re using and have a screenshot of the plugin’s settings page. You can do this for free by going to screencast.com, getcloudapp.com, or a service of your choice, uploading the screenshot/video, and sending us the URL.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi, @tersonac.

Thanks for asking. This is beyond what the plugin is designed to do, but you can achieve this via custom coding.

We have Developer Documentation articles that will help you with this for the pro version, Posts Table Pro.

If you are unsure how to do this or don’t have a developer who can help you implement it, I recommend that you post a job on Codeable where their pre-approved WordPress experts will send you a quote. We have partnered with them to provide plugin customization for our customers.

Codeable have several developers who are experienced in customizing our plugins – to request a quote from them, select Domenico Nusca, Krasen Slavov, Onur Demir, Liam Bailey, Nitin Yawalkar and Felipe Elia as your preferred experts.

I hope this helps. I’ll mark this as resolved for now.

    Hi, @naangdon. Thanks for asking.

The table merely displays data from your site’s database and does not pull any information from off-site.

To implement what you describe, you can use a third-party plugin that will perform the auto-import of data, which should also be mapped to the correct data fields displayed in the table (if you can find such a plugin).

For the Pro version of the plugin, here’s how you can (manually) import data: Can I import data to display in Posts Table Pro?

I’ll mark this as resolved for now.

    Hi, George. Thanks for asking.

I’m afraid that the plugin doesn’t have this feature. Cascading or connected / dependent filters are already on our Feature Request List for the paid version, Posts Table Pro.

I have added your ‘vote’ for this feature and we will let you know if we add this in future. In the meantime, I’m sorry that this isn’t possible.

I will mark this as resolved. Should you have any other concern, just let us know.

    Hi, @lilialet.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having difficulty with displaying posts from more than one category in the posts table on your site. Thanks for getting in touch so we may help and for using our plugin.

In this free version, the category option will allow you to restrict the table to one category only. The posts from different/all categories are displayed because of the error in having specified multiple categories.

To display posts from multiple categories in the table, I recommend that your try Posts Table Pro and its version of the category option.

I’ll mark this thread as resolved for now. Should you have any other concern that we may assist you with, just let us know.

    Hi, @bward.

Thanks for getting in touch and for using Better Recent Comments.

Yes, you can use custom CSS on the .comment-excerpt selector and have a line break between its different elements using display:block

I’m glad you figured that our yourself and thanks for sharing.

    Hi again, Gina.

You are most welcome. Likewise, thanks for your feedback. I’m glad you figured that out.

Note that the options that you include in the shortcode will override any of their counterparts in the plugin settings (which are applied globally or site-wide). The options in the shortcode take importance over the ones in the plugin settings.

About the other issue, unlike the Posts Table Pro version that has Mobile visibility & responsive options that you can use to set which columns to remain visible in which responsive mode/view, the free version makes use of automatic column widths and column priorities in the default column order of: title, content, date, author, category.

When the table can’t fit all the data within the space available (for example, on mobile devices) a “plus” icon appears to the left of each row to allow the user to show or expand the full content.

Since the category column is of a lower priority, displaying it first in the table will cause it to be displayed as collapsed, to ensure that the higher priority columns will have enough space to be displayed.

I hope this makes sense and helps.

    Cheers,
    Edge
