I only started using WordPress today and I think I may have the answer for you.

1) go to Appearance > Editor
2) go to the section that says: Begin Typography & Colors
3) scroll down and find h1 {
4) change the font size from by example 4em to 2.5 em
5) save

This should do the trick, at leat it did with mine!
