If I enable debug how will we know if there are any errors if we can’t view the backend?

In reply to: Site lost during/after update from 3.9.1Hi again and thanks
I renamed the plugin folder and that made no difference, other than obviously disabling the slider etc. I still could not log in.
I then renamed the active theme’s folder as suggested, and couldn’t get anything (site, backend etc) at all.
I really appreciate your assistance on this.

In reply to: Site lost during/after update from 3.9.1Since this reply things went from bad to worse, culminating with my host company reinstalling all files from their backup.
The upshot of this was that the website will now load but I am unable to access the back end of the site at all – entering the username and password produces a completely clear page even though the heading tab is labelled Dashboard. The hosting company could only suggest that I seek help from WordPress support.
I am able to access the File Manager via cPanel.
I would again welcome any suggestions that can get me back ‘operational’.

In reply to: Removing headings from footer section on HemingwayThanks for the response demonboy, however, I’m not really conversant with html & CSS, and having looked at your suggestions I’m baffled!
Is this the only way to achieve what I want to do?
