In reply to: [Remove Footer Credit] Credit on all pagesI agree Mihaela.
I’ve also already established that the plugin works on the same theme on a different site.
I’m now having problems with another plugin: something with the site seems to be wrong. I have contacted my host and asked them to try to resolve the problem.
As i’m almost certain it’s a problem with the site now, rather than the plugin, i appreciate your responses and will follow up this issue with my host.

In reply to: [Remove Footer Credit] Credit on all pagesThank you, Mihaela, but for whatever reason, it still doesn’t work.
I tried various slightly different options, such as the “Proudly powered by” text followed by the code you gave, the code alone, different alignment (on the off chance) and so on, but none of it worked.
I deactivated a plugin i thought might be causing it, but otherwise there’s no apparent difference between the two sites, except that Remove Footer Credit works on all pages for one, and only the home page for the other.
Any further thoughts, or will i have to just put this down to gremlins?

In reply to: [Remove Footer Credit] Credit on all pagesYes, thanks mplusb.
I actually created another site today where the plugin works on all pages.
That uses exactly the same theme (twenty seventeen).
But it still only works on the home page for the initial site:
Hi Dimitris
No problem about the response time – i’m happy you replied.
1) I’m aware of the option you listed, and mentioned it earlier 4 comments back (not counting this one). My point in that comment was that the wording of this warning – and others – isn’t very helpful: it doesn’t tell you how to ‘improve.’ I had to work it out, when it would’ve been much simpler just to tell me. So again, i am raising this for SmartCrawl to consider ‘improving.’
2) Ok. Not much to do, then, i guess, but sigh.

Thank you very much for your reply, Dimitris. I hope you’re also doing well!
For some reason i didn’t get notified of your reply by email, so only saw it now when i thought i’d have a look here.
1) Screenshot of message: https://imgur.com/UzPKIvj
2) Ok.
3) Ok.
4) I switched Auto-Notify search engines on last time i wrote and have gotten messages that SC has notified search engines. However i’m still able to find listings for the parent site in Google. In the search i just did, the first 2 listings were fine, the next 3 included the parent site: https://imgur.com/KdTxfvi (the last 3rd parent listing is cut off)
I’ve looked at this a little and am confused.
I can only go to the SmartCrawl settings on my parent site. So i take it SC works off that for my child sites?
Also, looking at the Dashboard again gives me messages that are cryptic. For example:
1) “Recommendation The canonical link tag is being used on your site. Having said that, the preferred URL for search results points to https://www.vividvegan.bid/, which seems to be redundant.” That’s not a recommendation, it’s a statement that suggests something should be done, but doesn’t say what.
2) “Consider improving: you may want to obscure this info. WordPress 4.9.8” Yet there’s no information about how this should be done. Even so, i found that in the Settings section there’s a setting to Hide Generator Meta Tag. I had that enabled, yet still received the advice to “Consider improving.”
These are just two examples.
But to get back to my specific issue, when i go to Sitemap, the top right of the screen tells me my Last Crawl was Never. Right next to that message, though, is a blue button that says, “New Crawl.” So i press that, but nothing happens.
In Sitemap > Advanced, i have Automatically Update My Sitemap on, yet i still find a few links with the parent/child path in Google. However Auto-Notify search engines wasn’t on. Could that have caused the problem? (I’ve since turned it on.)
Thanks for the information, Kasia.
Your suggestion sounds good. I’ll look into it.
Thankfully Empire Builder now seems ok. It just required a reset.
So i’ll be interested in your comments related to SmartCrawl. As i said, it seems to work fine most of the time, but i have come across cases on Google where it give parent/child address.
Could this just be a historical problem? One that will resolve itself in a month or two?
I also just found out that one of the Network Active plugins that i temporarily deactivated, WP Empire Builder, now doesn’t work properly.
I had other priorites, so i didn’t respond earlier, but coincidentally i got your message shortly after deciding to write a reply!
1. Given the metabox is the one that says Google Preview above it (as in your screenshot), then yes. Here’s my counterexample: https://imgur.com/gCfAxS4
2. I deactivated all active plugins, including the two that were Network Active, and the result was the same – see previous image.
3. I was able to do a search that was similar to the results i mentioned earlier: https://imgur.com/rBsua7D
While most listings i come across on Google have the correct format, i also come across some that don’t.
Hi Kasia
I’ve looked at this on the site i originally noticed these things, and here’s what i found:
1. I deactivated all plugins on the site except for two which were Network Active: Easy Updates Manager and WP Empire Builder. However the problem still remains. You mean that when you look at Google Preview on your test site, the url format there is child/postname?
2. I think i found what the issue is here, and it was only coincidental that i noticed it with the WordPress upgrade. Draft or pending posts and pages are all given the /?p=xyz format in Google Preview. Once they’re published, though, it becomes /postname.
3. When i look at SmartCrawl in the plugins panel, it shows as Network Active. I also recall setting it up for multisite when i first installed it. So this doesn’t appear to be relevant.
I did a search for something on my site in Google, and it returned 3 results on the first page. These were for a tag, a page and post.
The tag result was first and had the wrong url format ie parent/child tag. It was dated 27 November.
The page and post results both had the right url format, with the post being dated at 6 November.
I started using SmartCrawl around 19 November, so the 6 Nov post was before SmartCrawl (although maybe SmartCrawl still affected how it appeared), while the 27 Nov tag result with the wrong url format was after i started using SmartCrawl.
Thanks for your response, Kasia.
I will investigate and report what i find.
I just noticed something else: in the Settings on my parent site, i set Nofollow to on.
Yet when i go to my posts on a child site, even new ones i just created, the Advanced tab has Follow on!
Are these settings working against each other, or is there something i’m missing?

Ok, now i think i’ve answered my second question too!
If i upgrade and get the regions module, that will take care of validation. Is that right?
Don’t worry about an answer to the first question – the plugin prompted me to create the page and the shortcode.
Looks nice!
I’d still like to get your answer to the second question.
