In reply to: [ActivityPub] Change domain name?I’m a software engineer so not afraid to do any of that, just need to know which files and a sample setup. Is the
.well-known
piece the only thing I should need or might there be more?I already have the webfinger addon installed on top of the activitypub one

I, too, am looking for an answer here. I’ve done the upgrade to WP 5.8.1, then switch to PHP 7.4 (from 5.6) and now have this error.
Based on all the knowledge linked to by previous poster (not really helpful), I’m supposed to update WP. But I did that and it didn’t help.
Can we get some official word, here?

In reply to: [Bitly's Wordpress Plugin] Support custom bitly domains@abegael: seems heavy-handed. In order for this plugin to do this, you have to set up your entire bitly account to do it. And what if you manage multiple custom domains w/ your bitly account?
PERFECT. That is *exactly* what I wanted to have happen.
Thank you very much!
Jeremy,
How come when I turn on WP Bitly, then view a post and hit one of the sharing buttons, the URL shown in the share preview (eg to Twitter) isn’t the Bitly’d version?
good information. I might be able to come up with a solution given this.
Thanks.
i’d be interested in knowing more about:
it will use whatever is set on your site
set where? can i do this outside of a plugin?
It is then up to each URL shortener service
does this imply there is some setup built in to Jetpack that contacts bitly? I would think this would be a prime candidate for custom domain handling of one’s bitly account if so…
I’ve contacted the authors of the plugin to which you’re steering me. However I’d think it perhaps a bit more valid for official companies to work together (Jetpack and Bitly) to get this behaving as users might expect.
Please update this ticket if anything is done in this regard to alleviate the dependency on plugins to make this happen and bake the functionality in to Jetpack itself, or if Bitly updates their official plugin to make it play nicer with Jetpack.
Thanks.

In reply to: [Bitly's Wordpress Plugin] Moving domain and regenerating shortlinksSimilarly I would think it awesomely useful to have a “Generate Shortlinks” method/button/utility that would roll through all posts & pages and generate shortlinks for them in the postmeta table. This for users that have posts created before installing WP Bitly, but want bitly URLs to be used by the Sharing (and other) options.
Actually nope, just played with WP Bitly on my site and it doesn’t do this either. So it doesn’t do what I’m looking for.
I would like to use WP Bitly but it doesn’t provide the functionality I want. I want all sharing links kicked out from my site to use my custom bitly domain. Adding WP Bitly to my site doesn’t provide this where the Official Bitly plugin does.
Perhaps WP Bitly will add my custom domain to posts going forward, but I would greatly prefer something that worked retroactively. Hence my ask for Jetpack to have the ability to use a custom domain in its Sharing/Publicize feature.
