Cudos to the autor of this plugin who outclassed your condescending demeanor with civil to the point responses. He actually answers you politely trying to help you out in spite of your non-constructive approach.

It’s pretty obvious to everyone but yourself that the only thing out of the dark ages here is the plugin user in question.

To the author: I will be using your plugin for my next project. Thanks for putting it out here for the WordPress community! ??

@romonoutic Please adjust your approach completely.

Instead of boiling over with frustration and being demanding against someone who kindly has added a plugin to the repository for you to use freely try something that motivates helping you out instead.

After all a plugin is not a custom- made script to server your specific needs. If it’s a fit for your needs – great. If not, submit a bug report of a feature request.

If issues – work with the dev to get to the bottom of it. In this respect as in any other aspect of your life you’ll find that being polite and patient will work way better. Your tone is like; “I need(ed) this free plugin to work (yesterday) to make money – GODDAMMIT”.

Though it’s understandable that you’re frustrated due to your experience chances are that you are in fact missing something. My first though reading your complaint is that cache settings on your site might prevent it from working properly. Have you got any cache or CDN plugins installed and/or using Cloudflare os proxy.

Try troubleshooting by disabling other plugins installed one by one besides this one to eliminate plugin conflicts (not just cache plugins, all plugins) one at the time.

After each plugin you disable try refreshing the website frontend to check if the plugin you’ve just disabled caused this plugin not to work properly. In case of a conflict you can report the specific conflict to the dev and he test and debug the issue.

If you have a cache plugin make sure to clean the sites cache (and your browser cache) on the go.

Also try using another theme to test if that is the problem. Same procedure as with plugins.

Such a conflict is likely to be the culprit. if not at least you’ve done your homework helping out the community.

I haven’t used the plugin not am I affiliated in any way, but I’d look into testing using steps above for staters. It may very well be a bug in this plugin but don’t assume. Test and provide usable feedback in order to resolve.

Hope you get it sorted out.

    Additional info from Wordfence:

File Type: Not a core, theme, or plugin file from www.ads-software.com.

Details: This file is a PHP executable file and contains the word “eval” (without quotes) and the word “unpack(” (without quotes). The eval() function along with an encoding function like the one mentioned are commonly used by hackers to hide their code. If you know about this file you can choose to ignore it to exclude it from future scans. This file was detected because you have enabled HIGH SENSITIVITY scanning. This option is more aggressive than the usual scans, and may cause false positives.

Have contributed 10 pages bedore throwing in the towel now.

A substantial part of the strings are contrynames. (page mid 5 to page mid or so 21 I think)

Estimate 80-90% of said country names are identical when translated to Danish. In case moderators have capabilities of bult select/copy multiple strings I?d suggest to directly copy page 11-20 and sort out incorrect strings afterwards. Would speed up the entire process a great deal vs copy string by string.

Contributors can’t edit their own entries btw which is impractical. Had a few glitches (hit enter and made a typo) but can’t correct even if I would so sryy bout that assumed that was possible.

Hope to hear from the dev team in regards to the function issue? ??

    Kind regards
    Mads

I have this issue as well in regards to this specific bit not being translated to Danish..

Think I reported it a while back but cant find the thread. I need the output to be in Danish as the site targets Danish users.

Seems to be something you need to do judging from the solution referred to here – if so I’d like to make that request for next release of the plugin.

For your convenience I provide below the Danish translations of the currently missing strings:

    PRE MAIL IDENTIFICATION

    • Please identify yourself via e-mail = Idetificér venligst dig selv via din email
    • Enter your email address = Indtast din email adresse
    • Enter your email address (showing greayed out in txt input field) = Indtast din email adresse
    • Send email = Send email

POST MAIL IDENTIFICATION – FAILURE FEEDBACK

    • The email you entered does not appear to be a valid email.
    • We will send you an email with the link to access your data. Please check your spam folder as well! = Hvis den indtastede mail matcher den du har benyttet p? siden vil du modtage et link per mail som du kan klikke for at tilg? din data

    ==========================================================================

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE – PLUGIN MISCONDUCT

I tested using a fake email and got the latter inline response above (second one).

To me the plugin function referred to in step above is neither logical, sufficient or user friendly.

The reply indicates that the email used indeed has been logged and verified in the WP database.

Evidently the plugin should validate the input right away in order to immediately con- or affirm the validity of the provided mail?

Else the user sits around and waits for nothing in the (fake) belief that s/he has used the correct mail address.

This could potentially create some pretty nasty scenarios for the site owner in case users files complaints due to misinformation and lack of due diligence.

    ==========================================================================

    POST MAIL IDENTIFICATION (SUCCESS)

    • You are identified as = Du er identificeret som
    • Consent = Samtykke
    • Download your data = Download din data
    • You can download all your data formatted as a table for viewing.
Alternatively, you can export it in machine-readable JSON format. = Du kan enten downloade din data i tabel format eller alternativt eksportere din data i maskine-l?seligt JSON format.
    • Bottom 1: Download as table = Download som tabel
    • Bottom 2: Download as JSON = Download som JSON
    • Delete my user and data = Slet min bruger og data
    • Data deletion is disabled for administrative accounts. = Sletning af data er blokeret for administratorer.

Those were the strings I could locate right off the bat. There must at least be an alternative to the last one as well.

Look forward for the update on all this – thanks for an otherwise nice plugin!

Your review was a waste of time. Don’t know bout the plugin.

    BeaGent

    (@beagent)

@bagbros1Im not affiliated with this plugin in any way and honestly haven’t even used it. Just came here chenking out reviews up front…

…and dude… seems you’re solely dumping a free plugin with 1 star based on disappointment that it’s not tailor-fit for your every need out of the box?

A 1 star review only serving a generic statement about your dissatisfaction with these kind of plugins in general and their pricing is not beneficiary for anyone – including yourself.

Be specific when you review something. Why is this specific plugin worth only 1 star? You mention pricing. Is it something bout the business model of the dev team? Is it some unannounced limitation somewhere?

If you can’t come up with anything in it’s probably time to reconsider the score and maybe rethink your approach in general once you’re done rotating.

Hi all – second other commenters here to get a straight answer from the plugin team: Is updating Innodb tables using WPoptimize safe or not? Thanks!

wow – thanks for sharing! Eavesdropping for dev reply on this one.

Look forward for that Indrek – Thanks

Surely the team behind iThemes security and BackupBuddy will put forward an official statement in terms of how they are about to comply with EU GDPR legislation which affects any company operating on the EU market(?)

You need to address the fact that you facilitate tools used by data processors and controllers worldwide and the updated EU GDPR legislation affects all parties involved no matter geography as long as EU users are targeted.

E.g. with an iThemes plugin like BackupBuddy I wonder if the iThemes online vault storage option is located outside the EU (as their company is US based I imagine this to be true) If located in the it raises an issue in regards to user consent if e.g. the data processor / controller use BB to serve EU clients.

Assuming the website in question targets EU users and the website backups are stored outside the US the data controller/processor is obliged to make a more extensive notice available about this when asking for consent in regards to obtaining and handling user data.

If this is the case the data controller at the very least needs to be informed that the location is outside EU or an option for EU based storage must be offered during setup where the storage option is made available.

That is just one example. No matter what iTheme plugin this touches I feel very strongly about knowing how you as a company are actually implementing technical and procedural compliance in regards to GDPR. I do consider past events in regards to security and customer data saying this.

I am not trying to troll here, however as Te-Punks suggests the GDPR regulation will be put into action within 2 months (May 25th 2018) and I cannot seem to find any info or GDPR statements anywhere from iThemes.

The fines for GDPR misconduct are severe so I imagine the team is upfront and on their toes with some solid info very soon. If not I for one need to look for an alternative plugin due to the risks involved if GDPR remains addressed.

    Best!

    @bonaldi (+ the iThemes team):

FYI everybody handling data relating to EU citizens or serving EU customers are affected by the GDPR legislation. Not just companies residing within the the EU.

As I read the GDPR terms iThemes and similar companies outside EU are equally affected by the terms of GDPR by having a client base within the EU – not to mention the presumed fact that a substantial part of their EU client base probably serve as data controllers/processors serving an exponential number of EU based website owners affected by this.

If not GDPR compliant I would worry greatly about the risks of being held accountable as a data processing party and the massive penalties involved for misconduct.

The responsibility to GDPR not limited by the physical location or origin of the software company. It’s the location of the targeted user and customer base that matters.

For everybody’ sake I surely hope you’re onto this one guys!

    Thanks for pointing out!

I’d like to bump the question above?

Same issue here – will this be updated?
