Hi,
may i ask if thats a custom template within the theme especially for the homepage or something else e.g. static html which could be as you can’t edit in wordpress?

i don’know if there are better ones these two come to my mind.
one way would be to insert an album referring to to the chosen gallery on this page,what you would have to do manually (weekly) is to change the preview picture under gallery->manage->gallery->gallery options.

If you dont like that the other way would be to insert the picture manually (in the current versions of wp and ngg you can choose single images from the galleries via Add Media) and then alter the link from pointing to the full image to pointing to the gallery of your choice. If you’ve got an overlay effect running you still might have to go into the html code of the post to eliminate anything which evokes the overlay effect.

if you figured it out why don’t you post your solution? If not now maybe there will be someone in the future who will be grateful for doing that and maybe there will be a question less that others have to answer.

I read all posts here in the moment and what is within my humble knowledge i will try to solve/answer. If i dont know it, i’m quiet.

You feel left alone if you don’t get a solution for a problem with something that you get completely for free – within 19 hours? It’s all done in sparetime – think again.

i don’t know of any option to choose the sort order of galleries and albums in the admin part. Maybe Alex will be so nice to enable this in future releases it seems useful to me.

For now you can try the following:
For the sorting newest (highest id) galleries first open
nextgen-allery/admin/manage.php Attention if you have wordpress 2.5 you have to open the same file in nextgen-allery/admin/wp25 instead.

In this file there will be only one instance (line 290) of ASC change this to DESC and you’re done

For the album again choose the file according to your wp version this time its album.php Again there’s only one time ASC (line 130) change to DESC.

I’ve tried it but not really tested so i can only say it should work, not it will thats what you have see for yourself.

solved it myself the other way around (changing prettyPhoto .css and .js) is now looking like it should at least on IE and FF.

sorry got you wrong. If i get you right this time: The galleries can be named individually by yourself under gallery->manage galler->gallery options and there description what i enter there will be shown in the albums as gallery name.

yes you can, first under gallery->options->gallery
option show picture description set to description.
second you need to select a stylesheet (currently only one) under gallery->style: Shadow Effect with Description text.
third if you’ve got to have an overlay thick light or whatever box running it should be able to handle html in the descriptions else this will look ugly and won’t work.

i’m really not shure what to do – the first thing that comes to my mind is to put a certain amount of pictures into (a) table cell(s)and after that geginning a new row… i’m pretty shure that there could be a better more elegant way.
What i’m also pretty shure about that whatever should be done it should be in nggfunctions.php -> function nggCreateGallery

Hi,
i dont know if you would like that but you can try to define a fixed width and height t in your chosen stylesheet for the gallery page
gallery->style.
look for :
.ngg-gallery-thumbnail-box {
and put inside
for example
width:205px;
height:310px;

which should be the maximum height that you need for your longest descriptrion. Not a perfect solution as every thumb will take the same room now but they will be in order.
