In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Incorrect breadcrumb trailThanks for getting back to me. use the link War Dead scroll down and on that page you will find links to each of the names I mentioned (and others).
However in the meantime I found the answer to my problem. The faulty pages didn’t have a Parent page set.
Using Dashboard – All Pages – Quick Edit and changing the Parent from the default Main page (No parent) to the correct parent solved my problem.
Thanks for your interest in helping.Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast SEO help filesIf I understand you correctly, I should have an option in WordPress (latest version installed) labelled Admin from which I can get to Tools – Site Health.
The only options I can see under Dashboard are Home and Updates. The links to the screen dumps are

Thanks for the ongoing help.

Good job! We could detect no serious SEO problems.
You have one hidden problem
(A link ) – Your homepage cannot be indexed by search engines. This is very bad for SEO and should be fixedSelecting the link I go to https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-ryte/
That suggests, as you do, that I “can find the Ryte indexability check on your site’s dashboard inside the Yoast SEO Posts Overview box.
Unfortunately nowhere can I find this.
I should add that my site is all Pages, no Posts.
Thanks for the help.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast SEO help filesThank you for your prompt and comprehensive reply, as well as the tests you conducted.
The Mobile Tester was able to find the site.
I had been unable to find the Fetch the Current status tab indicated in the link you provided – hence my question about Help file differences. In the help file link there is a box SEO Posts overview. I have looked everywhere and can’t find a screen that looks like that.No doubt I am missing something obvious … but I am a newby!
IanThanks for replying. The issue was that when I clicked on the Dashboard I don’t see any stats.
However, having just looked again to get some info for this reply, I found that a load of statistics had appeared so now it is working.
Must have been impatience on my part, expecting more or less instant results based on my own surfing of the site!

In reply to: Image file sizeThanks. I should have said that although I was hoping to stick to one resolution, I would be compressing as much as I could reasonably do.

In reply to: Managing pages in DashboardThanks for the suggestions. I must say that I am surprised that there is no way of ordering pages in the way that thee are meia managers that do this.
I take your point re duplicates. Sloppy text on my part! I meant I would need to duplicate access routes, not the files themselves. I agree that that would become a nightmare when updating.

In reply to: Managing pages in DashboardThanks for the suggestions.
As Joy says, pages are for timeless information. As the web site is a source of information about our village (www.stbees.org.uk) most of the information is timeless. The changes tend to be minor – a Bed & Breakfast closes, another opens once every few years. About the only pages that are perhaps better being posts are the Parish Council minutes, as these are new every month.
Planning I agree is essential to get the navigation correct, but this is difficult. A hierarchical system is needed but some topics fit in more than one major topic. For example in the existing site, the high level menu item Churches leads to historical items but village history is so interlinked – churches, school, village development, etc. – that I have to duplicate some of these items also elsewhere (and History is one of the areas attracting most hits!).
My question was really more in relation to managing the pages in WP dashboard. The system provided means that as they all go in the order of creation finding a particular file that may need editing would be hard. I would have to select Pages – All pages then go through multiple lists to find the page I want. I was hoping to find something that allows the organisation of the pages as in perhaps File Explorer. Filebird allows me to organise images in that way.
Development would best be done by a professional with a site this big but the money to do this is not available. So it has to be done by a amateur whose profession is medicine not IT!
Anyway thanks for the replies and interest.

In reply to: Transferring a web siteThank you both for your help.
Figured this out? Well, yes and no!
It seems to be something linked to the theme, but why it gave a coloured background sometimes but not others I am not sure. Main thing is that I now have a consistent background.
Thanks for taking the time to look and reply.

In reply to: Different header image on each page –Thanks. I wonder if that is why uploading media has a tendency to crash my Chrome browser?
Will see if I can find a suitable (and generally acceptable) alternative. The problems of designing for a committee!
