    David,

I understand some of the posts have 0 comments. However, many posts just say “Comments Off” at the bottom even though on their respective blogs comments are on. That is the issue.

    Sure. https://www.realestatemarbles.com.

It seems the WordPress MU Sitewide Tags plugin is turning off comments for new posts on the main blog, which is weird (I have the posts copied to the main blog rather than to a sub-blog).

Even if the posts themselves have comments turned on on their respective sites, they don’t turn on on the homepage.

    Frustrating.

Nope. No plugins pertaining to comments.

My issue still seems to be through things hooking into the wp_head and wp_footer, which is what both the admin bar and CometChat link through. Does Domain Mapping trick WordPress into thinking it is on another server, thus ignoring those hooks?…Looks like I will have to hard code my chat bar into every theme, boo hoo.

    I have the same issue.

Domain mapping removes both my admin bar and the CometChat bar I have installed through hooks into wp_header and wp_footer. It worked on all sites, but once a site is domain mapped, these things disappear.

    Thanks for the response.

It’s a little disappointing. Not the end of the world though. My users can currently use Quickpress in BuddyPress to post to their blogs from the Front end, and I’m building a custom iPhone app around it, so that’ll work fine for now.

Where do you get the dev version?

I am running version 0.8.5.2 and that testing error still pops up.

Also, when I try and actually upload files, nothing happens. It will process for three seconds and then say “Request Failed.”

The weirdest thing is that it uploaded about 4 themes and started uploading blogs.dir, but then it suddenly stopped.

    Weird.

Also, I am curious: After I upload the current files, will it just automatically upload new files to Amazon S3 afterwards? So if a new user creates a blog and uploads an image, it will automatically go to Amazon S3?

Thanks for helping me clear up these issues.

I am not having this issue after moving WordPress from MediaTemple’s GridService to their Dedicated Virtual hosting. Not sure why, as all the posts transferred over with the database…

Yes, I understand that it is not just uploaded files and that it is per blog, not per user. I’ve noticed that it also includes some files from plugins, like WP E-commerce, if you have that installed.

Most users will probably not need that much space. We’re going to be starting with a beta in the next month to just see how things go and how much space people will generally need. Chances are, we’ll be fine at the beginning. Long term, not so sure. My two partners are very popular in the real estate industry and get from 50,000 to 150,000 hits from unique IPs a day. If we could get those 150,000, we’re potentially looking at something that’s as big as Edublogs, but for real estate rather than education. As the site’s self-taught tech guru, I have a lot of knowledge of running WordPress and creating basic plugins and theme design, but not so much maintaining and managing its backend. If we get the growth we expect, well…things could get ugly if we’re not prepared. Andrea, you seem to be the WordPress expert considering I’ve noticed your presence on every main WordPress support site…do you know any suggestions on what I should be doing, or who I should be talking to about this, since I think its probably a little bit above my knowledge level.

Those links are helpful, but definitely off-putting, especially the database ones. I have no idea how to even create those databases in bulk. I guess I should put a posting on the WPMU Dev Job Board and see if someone can help us out.

Thanks for your help! It’s definitely appreciated. I’ve tried looking Buddypress forums, but I’ll give it a second go. I figured it may be an issue with 3.0 Multisite, as I never used WPMU before so I was not sure.

Once again, thanks. Hopefully that last link will solve my problem!

I just checked – avatars on all blogs by default.

    (@bennadler)

    I’m pretty sure.

Buddypress is network activated, though. The Buddypress Admin bar appears on all sub-blogs, so they should be able to call the avatars.

I will check about avatars being on or not, however. Where is the setting for that exactly again? Is it under Settings > Users? I’ll go check myself. Hopefully that fixes it.

Go to your WordPress.com blog. It is under Settings > Media.

Under Video Player it says “Restrict embed playback” and it lets your include a list of domains you want to have playback options.

    Hope this helps!

Nevermind, I solved this…was using the wrong template tag.
