We have got the same problem.
It happened as follows:
– installed latest wordpress
– installed contest gallery via zip file upload
– activated contest gallery
– click on menu “contest gallery”
– click on “new gallery” button
– for a moment I could see [cg_gallery id=”0″] in the top
– click on “Edit options”, but did not change anything
– click on “Back to menu” button
– click again on “new gallery” buton
– from this point on there are just [cg_gallery id=””] and [cg_users_upload id=””] and nothing can be saved or uploaded correctly. nothing works
– also uninstalling and reupload /installation do not help
