In reply to: [WooCommerce] Future-proofing a modified themeThanks for the quick reply. Even though I’m an admin I can’t delete any plugins so I think you’re right – I think someone working on the site previously has done something weird. I’m trying to get someone with access to the hosting to disable all plugins by moving them temporarily but I think it might be more efficient to export content and re-build the site.
Hi again – client has given permission to remove the plugin but I can’t. I can de-activate it but there’s no option to delete it, even when it’s not active. I don’t have access to the hosting so I can’t remove it via File Manager and I can’t install a file management plugin so I can’t do it from inside WordPress either. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks – I’ll ask them to remove it for the time being and they know where to find it if they need to re-install.
Further to my original query, I can see in ‘Admin Features’ that plugin-install.php has been blocked by URL. The original developer is no longer involved with this site. Because of the restrictions in place and because the settings will remain in the database when your plugin is removed, the owner will apparently be forced to buy a Pro license for your product to be allowed to remove it, and gain full, actual admin rights to their own site? If they do buy the Pro license, will they be able to remove any current settings from the DB without editing it manually?

In reply to: [Novo-Map : your WP posts on custom google maps] Can’t add a new pinPlease ignore this, I’ve resolved it.
Somewhat ironically I found this review via a link in a community support forum for The Events Calendar. I agree with everything the original reviewer says; TEC is an excellent product, but after buying the ‘Pro’ version and several add-ons, it still seems that every query I have RE: customisation is met with a reply along the lines of ‘we don’t provide that service but here’s a link to some guys who can but who will possibly charge you more than what you’re getting paid to build the whole rest of the website’. I use other ‘pro’-level plugins from other providers but I’ve rarely had this many virtual doors closed in my face. It’s exceptionally frustrating. If you want specifics I’d point to things like being able to change labels on fields, or to be able to re-order fields – particularly ‘additional fields’. If I want to change a spelling (eg ‘Organizer’) I have to go rummaging into PHP code. TEC is a great plugin/system, as long as your needs don’t stray very far from what is provided.

In reply to: [Novo-Map : your WP posts on custom google maps] Text mode for InfoboxWhat @amazemedia said. This is a great plugin but if you could add text mode to the infobox it would be VERY useful.

In reply to: [Novo-Map : your WP posts on custom google maps] Styling the pop-up info boxI’ve found (and adjusted) the CSS to do what I needed to do. Great plugin – thanks!

In reply to: [Novo-Map : your WP posts on custom google maps] Styling the pop-up info boxHi – this plugin might be what I’ve been looking for for a few months! BUT the ‘close button’ for the info-box is very large. Any idea how to reduce it’s size?

In reply to: Create Child Theme With Godaddy Managed WordPressI’m sure (I hope) the OP has got past their problem by now but just in case, and for the benefit of anyone else having the same issue, you can find the SFTP login details on your GoDaddy ‘gateway page’. Login as usual, and in the box that appears for your Managed WordPress installation, click ‘Settings’. There’s a tab in the next dialog labelled ‘SSH & SFTP’ – the information you need to connect via FTP client (Filezilla, CyberDuck, CoffeeCup, etc) is all on there.
GoDaddy tech support is actually very efficient and friendly if you’re stuck, too.
Apologies (if necessary) for the not-strictly-WordPress-support nature of this entry!
