For those who might also encounter this problem, you have installed the wrong GeoIP.dat file as I had downloaded the GeoLite City .dat and simply renamed it to GeoIP.dat expecting it to function the same.
Make sure you download the GeoLite Country Binary file only and upload it your wp-content/uploads via a file manager.
