First thing I would do is make sure you’re using the latest version of WordPress. For my client, it turns out they needed an update and that fixed the problem.

@colossal, are you saying you created your visual archive with the Related Posts Thumbnails plugin?

Doing some work for someone with the same problem – they are on 1and1 hosting and Sharedaddy (in Jetpack) has hijacked the administration area of the site.

@drayu, thanks for sharing your fix. That was the trick for me, too.
I re-edited the .htaccess file to force PHP5 and the site works again.

Does anyone know what might have caused this, or how to prevent it from happening in the future?

If you are using a plugin to display Cufon fonts, upgrading the plugin should fix the problem (assuming the plugin creator has done their part).

A client of mine has this problem also.

I discovered this problem today with a client site. The site is running WP 3.0.4 and IE9 (full release) would not let me use the buttons in the visual editor or select any text in the visual editor.

Is there a fix for this yet?

I still wonder about the slideshow not always rotating.
