Thanks Abid. Those switches were off. So we should be fine now.

In reply to: Many WordPress buttons don’t work in new Safari browserThanks. I really can’t use the new editor. It breaks my workflow and things that are beyond my control. I’m terrified when I hear the Classic Editor is going to be discontinued. It would mean switching to a WordPress alternative.

I don’t have any choice about this.

In reply to: Where does ?themes_on_signup_preview=1 come from? That’s interesting, because I normally see that banner on every page with or without the query strong. But yes, it’s gone on a private browser window.

In reply to: [Webmention] When web mentions aren not appropriateHa, I found it but was confused earlier because the option turns the feature ON for pages.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Post Formats archived when Formats disabled in YoastSorry, I realised I should have replied.
The process outlined by Michael doesn’t work in this case because the URLs only show up in Google when I type site:billbennett.co.nz type/standard/
Remember they already 404 on the site, so I’d expect that to happen if I deactivate plug-ins or change the theme. I tested just to make sure and yes, that’s what happens.
There is, however, good news. The number showing up in Google is falling.
A week ago there were 344 entries. Today there are 214.
So perhaps its just a matter of being patient and they will go.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Post Formats archived when Formats disabled in YoastThat’s a good question. I only have a handful of asides, links and quotes
I tried all them:
https://billbennett.co.nz/type/aside/
https://billbennett.co.nz/type/link/
and so on.
They all redirect to the home page.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Post Formats archived when Formats disabled in YoastAlso, my error. Apologies.
The pages are NOT on Google Search Console (I ran into a different problem there, this will teach me not to multitask).
In Google: site:billbennett.co.nz type/standard/
Shows 344 entries. So they are being indexed.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Post Formats archived when Formats disabled in YoastSorry Carl, the X means any number. For example: https://billbennett.co.nz/type/standard/page/124/

In reply to: [Post Kinds] Does anything break if I remove Post Kinds? Thanks.
I think I can lose it on this site without tears.

In reply to: Can I ditch the type/standard/page taxonomy? That’s a good question.
I was more concerned that it seems (OK, it feels) like bad practice and that bad practice can mean both a poor user experience and poor SEO.
“Bad practice” because there are 324 pages on the site which don’t seem to serve any purpose.
But if it doesn’t annoy my readers and doesn’t hurt SEO then I may just have to live with it.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Index.php “Indexed, though blocked by robots.txt”Yes. I can’t find a call to the page anywhere in the code, although I’m not sure how I would find it. Searching for the URL gets me nowhere.
Thanks.
I’m having trouble getting to the Jetpack support. I’m signed into the right WordPress account, if I go to the Jetpack dashboard and click on ‘Ask a question’ I get the message telling me I need to log in to the WordPress account. That’s confusing.
Should mention there is a URL Parameter for ak_action that was automatically generated.
Here’s a recent one:
https://billbennett.co.nz/tag/enterprise/?ak_action=reject_mobile
The actual page has been deleted, but the mobile versions live on. Jetpack killed this in March, so it’s taking SC forever to catch up.
