What about the Default Layout option? How can I force this to one column?

Two reasons.

First, my child theme – currently on my site at https://billbennett.co.nz is massively minimal. I don’t think I’m seeing the performance benefits of this because the parent twentyeleven theme includes tons of php and css that doesn’t get used. I checked this by benchmarking speeds of the current theme versus a basic, old-school WordPress theme.

Second, I want to package it up for redistribution. Sure, I know I can do this with a child theme, especially when the parent is the standard theme, but it would be cleaner as a standalone.

I’m assuming category.php is the right file to edit for this…

@joshuaiz – Never got to the bottom of the problem. The Dagon Design Sitemap Generator appears to be unsupported now, I uninstalled it.

Yes, so why am I getting this message on the dashboard of my self-hosted site?

Is is an error, is there a version of Publicize for self-hosted sites but it isn’t visible yet or is there some other explanation.

Suddenly it’s broken for me too.

Must be something new.

Changing those directory permissions hasn’t fixed it for me.

I’ve been using this plug-in successfully for months, suddenly it has stopped working.

I get the same problem others have mentioned: nothing appears in search.

It was working fine on May 30, but hasn’t worked since June 10. This indicates to me the problem wasn’t the last WordPress upgrade — which happened on May 25.

Thanks alchymyth. In the end I cheated by creating another div in the loop that only shows on the index page. Seems to work nicely.

All I needed to do was delete the code inside the Secondary widget area and replace with the loop code.

Obvious really.

Thanks. I found that works, but you have to write the link as raw HTML – which may confuse others working on my site.

To get around this, I’ve installed the TinyMCE Excerpt plug-in, which makes it easier for non-geeks to add the links.

Fixed this by realising TwentyTen uses

‘twentyten_custom_excerpt_more’

for manual excerpts (which are called custom excerpts in the code).
