Wait…let me verify I understood what you were asking.
The site you’re talking about is for one business…so you want the widget (presumably displayed on every page) to show the hours and if that biz is currently open correct?

If so…I slapped together a proof of concept but I still have some work to do before submitting it to the repository. If you want to email me at plugins AT binarygary.com I can send over a zip of what I have so far.

That’s no good…do you have shell access? Given your description I might assume the WP core files are messed up. WP-CLI lets you re-install core files very easily.

Another option might be to see if you can get your host to backup the database and see where you can go from there.

do you have an SSL certificate installed?

This looks like something Host Gator is going to have to be involved in.

Is your developer running it locally or through the same host?

When the plugins were disabled you still had the same problem?

Are you running anything like SSL everywhere in your browser that would modify it?

The 404 that is displayed is the WordPress 404 in your template or a more basic one?

When you say it doesn’t work, can you add some more details?
What’s it displaying as written?
What are you expecting it to display?
