In reply to: New Post Notification across MultisitesYup, just got it updated today, it works beautifully now. Thanks to the developer for fixing the issue, now it does exactly what I need it to do.

In reply to: New Post Notification across MultisitesThe first wasn’t what I wanted, but the second, at least at first blush, looked good, but it’s only working on my top-level blog, displaying new posts on secondary blogs, but on the secondary blogs, it won’t display anything. The heading shows up, no blog posts appear beneath it.

In reply to: New Post Notification across MultisitesDid you have any specific widgets in mind, I’ve looked through a good dozen or so and every one only lists the sites, not new posts on each site.

In reply to: Multisite Problems w/ 3.0That did it, I got it set up successfully by logging on through IE, then clearing that cookie in Firefox. Thanks so much for all your help!
You know, if this is such a known problem, it’s funny that nobody puts this solution into the official WordPress walk-through for setting up multi-sites!

In reply to: Multisite Problems w/ 3.0I didn’t clear cookies, that’s something good to try the next time through, probably this weekend. However, since it wouldn’t allow me to put in *ANY* password and have it work, no matter what the password was, I’m sort of skeptical.
I followed the official WP setup and it all goes perfectly, right up to logging in again after making all the changes, then it all goes south. Since I’m not doing subdomains (my host doesn’t support it, especially since my WP install isn’t in the root), I didn’t see anything new in your guide that I hadn’t done. Maybe I just need to completely wipe everything and start fresh again, kill the sub, delete the database, clear everything out, download a new version of WP3.01 and see if I can get it to work. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and let everyone know if I have any luck.
Thanks.

In reply to: Widgets Not Working At AllI already said I changed to the default theme and it didn’t help, I just reset the plugins folder (created an empty plugin folder) and it still doesn’t work.
So.. not plugins, not theme… other options?

In reply to: Need Suggestions for Tables Possibly?I guess in very rough terms it is, although I don’t need anything so fancy. Certainly not looking to buy a software package to keep track of my hobbies though, sorry.

In reply to: Need Suggestions for Tables Possibly?Essentially it’s a long database, currently covering 45 pages, with probably 150-200 elements per page. It’s a video database for keeping my collection straight, I need to keep track of what I have, when it came out, where it is, etc. and it needs to be flexible enough so that as I get more, I can insert things alphabetically into the page.
I used to do it, pre-Wordpress, through hundreds of multi-line tables, pasted one after another, but it ended up slowing page loads down dramatically. After I converted over to WP, I just did it all in text and cut-and-pasted a new copy as I got more movies. Unfortunately, that led to a lot of eratic formatting and I’m trying to avoid those same problems again. I’d like to set up a single formatted table (or similar), then be able to add new tables (or whatever) anywhere on the page as necessary. That way, it’s always quick and consistent.
I just don’t know if I’m not thinking outside the box enough or not. I don’t want to run into the same problem where pages take 20-30 seconds to load all the hundreds of tables.

In reply to: Visual Editor Not Working on *1* PostIt started to affect other pages too, it was progressive. One page after another failed so I ended up killing the installation and reinstalling fresh. Now, it works, I just lost a year’s worth of content when every backup turned out to be corrupt.
What fun.
Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Visual Editor Stuck In HTML ModeI’ve got the same problem, I upgraded, did all of the above, still not working. I even installed a secondary editor and that didn’t fix it either. I have to have my visual editor to do the work I need to do and right now, I’m stuck.

In reply to: Automatic plugin upgrade not working – ftp problemskmessinger: In these cases, a URL is utterly useless because it’s something that is entirely invisible to anyone looking at the pages. It’s like standing in the dark, saying you want people to tell you how to change a lightbulb.

In reply to: Automatic plugin upgrade not working – ftp problemsI’m having the same kind of problems, but I have three separate WordPress installations on the same server (different subdomains). Two of them will auto-upgrade just fine, I’ve never had a problem. The third refuses, it gives a “Unable to locate WordPress Plugin directory./Plugin upgrade Failed” error. It’s obviously not the server, all three are running 2.7.1, I’ve made sure all of the settings are the same (they’re identical for all three installs, except for the name of the subdomain), still no joy.
It really is a royal pain, especially when installing new versions, to have to run off to FTP directly, it’s really only been recently when WordPress has had Windows-style automatic updates that I’ve even bothered keeping up to date, I certainly don’t want to go back to having to do it all manually, especially since some plugins seem to update very regularly.

In reply to: “Unable to locate WordPress Plugin directory.”The weird thing is, I am running three WordPress blogs on the same server (different subdomains). Two of them automatically upgrade just fine, I’ve never had a problem. The third refuses to upgrade no matter what I do. I don’t get it, they’re all running 2.7.1, one just doesn’t want to work right.

In reply to: Formatting text box captions with imagesThanks for all the help, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not going to be able to do exactly what I want done and there are other non-Wordpress options that I already know work, even if they’re not quite as convenient, at least I get all the formatting that I want, exactly as I want, without having to compromise.
Keep up the good work.

In reply to: Formatting text box captions with imagesNot to complain or anything because I am honestly thankful for the help, but floating left or right, while I can get things on the same line, I was really hoping for them centered. It’s going to make for a rather messy page since I’ll have a mixture of 1, 2 and 3 images on various lines and either they’ll bunch to the left if I float the 2 and 3 lines left, or right if I float them right.
Plus, honestly, having 5 lines of code for each and every image, and as I said, I’m going to have HUNDREDS of images… not a particularly efficient system. With some pages containing 30-40 individual images…
