Thank God i found the solution! Actually I created the “problem” myself by using the plugin Robots Meta and DISABLING the date-based archives!!! It would 301 redirect to the home-page as it exactly did.

Man, I am happy that I solved my own stupidity!

I thought it might be useful for other users as well in case they have a comparable problem.

Does anybody know if .htaccess can cause the archive problem? Maybe due to a redirect… It looks like the page /blog/2009/02 is “redirected” to the homepage.

I have a sitemap installed but google only indexes it partially. (from 122 urls, 25 indexed) My feeling is that because of the crawling errors (due to slow catching up of Google?) he is not indexing to the fullest. In the past I hadn’t this problem.

Anybody an idea if there is a relationship between the # crawling errors and the indexing?

I have changed the permalinks back to default https://www.bjjtrip.com/?p=123 even than the monthly archives don’t work. Somehow the monthly archives are not reachable?

Anybody having a comparable problem? Archives don’t work!

Sorry to bother again but this issue is causing a lot of pain and I am desperate to get an answer? Otherwise I need to change back the permalink structure which will create again an issue with the search engines for their indexes.

It seems that more wordpress users have a comparable problem but also their questions remain unresolved. Can somebody of the WP development team look into this because according to me it’s quite an important issue, not only for me. ??

Had the same problem but found a solution. Depending on your settings you have most likely defined that “by default” you post and pages are categorised as “uncategorized”. In the sitemap xml plugin there is an exculde option for any pages or post with this setting. So implecitly your photo pages are excluded.

Uncheck “uncategorised” exclude in sitemap xml plugin and it works. Better of course categorize your pages in the way you like but not “uncategorised”.
