I detected copies of media files that came to life through multiple uploads. I couldn’t find out which document was referenced on my site and which wasn’t. So, I hoped the cleaner app would do that job. As it just moves clean-up files to the trash, I felt the risk of losing files was low. After applying the cleaner, I noticed that references to media files were pending now. This means that the app is far from perfect concerning the expected result. To conclude the story: I just restored the file in the trash bin to get back to the previous state, leaving my original problem unsolved. (BTW, If my washing machine wouldn’t properly clean my laundry, I would rate it down as well.)
If you use the cleaner carefully, you won’t lose your media files.
