Well I tried deactivating Fourteen Extended and it didn’t seem to make a difference. It is still available, but from a different site. I know that I recently updated the Twenty Fourteen theme so maybe it’s a new bug. Basically it seems like the max content width is just set to 474 in a ton of places that I am not savvy enough to go in and fix myself. Is there some easy workaround that I can do manually with each picture? I don’t mind doing it if it means my photos will be bigger. For instance, in the code to embed the photo in the post editor? Oy vey, what a headache!

?? I created a child theme though that seems to be working okay. I am also using Fourteen Extended, could that be getting in the way?

Ok so I tried your edits and they didn’t seem to make a difference. I have disabled the custom size plugin and now my ‘Large’ image size is stuck at 474, like it was before. So the large size is stuck and even if I try to do the full size image it automatically resizes to 474. I have installed a child theme so I am ready to test any and all suggested CSS fixes!

If I manage to get a child theme up and running (working on it now, it seems like it just might work since I’m a little more savvy to some of the code now), where would I try to place those CSS edits? In the style.css or in the functions.php? Honestly it’s the functions.php that I’ve had the most problems trying to create and use in a child theme, but I’m open to trying again! Thanks again for your help and suggestions, I really appreciate it!

I know a child theme would be very helpful, but every time I’ve tried using very clear online instructions, it never works.

I’m guessing that bit of code will only work by editing the theme directly or editing a child theme? I tried to add it into the Custom CSS area but it didn’t change anything.

Sorry if the answer should be obvious, I’m more of a n00b when it comes to code.

Did you only deactivate photon to get it to work, and that solved it right away? Or did you have to reset your template to twenty fourteen? I ask because I’m having the same issue and have deactivated photon and it doesn’t seem to have changed anything. Am I missing a step here?
