In reply to: Google Authorship MarkupNope. Does anyone want to tell me how to enter code without it creating a link? For future reference more than anything.

In reply to: Google Authorship MarkupWell apparently when I put the code in my previous post it created a link instead of showing the code. I’ll try again.
<a href="https://plus.google.com/102644894770095775314?rel=author"> Google+</a>
Hope this works. ??

In reply to: Google Authorship MarkupWhile your authorship appears to be working, I’ll go ahead and explain what worked for me in case it helps someone else.
In a text widget in my footer I added this code:
I had a slight variation to this, suggested by someone else and seems to work for others, and it worked to link my blog to Google+, but not for authorship.
I also have this code under user>admin>edit in the Biographical Info section. I don’t know if it’s required to have it in both places to work, but I had it here as suggested by my theme’s creator, but it didn’t work for authorship until I changed the code in my foot text widget. He had mentioned putting it in the header, but I couldn’t figure out how to do that. Luckily this worked for me. It’s been probably a month and a half and I still don’t have the photo showing next to my posts in actual Google searches, yet Google shows I do have authorship markup working. So it’s a waiting game I guess. Frustrating.

In reply to: Google Authorship MarkupYes. I got help on the forum for my theme. I changed the html code that links to my google+ profile slightly. Both worked to actually link to my profile, but the new one worked for authorship.
Of course, I’m still not seeing my photo next to actual search results yet. Still waiting for the mysterious Google gods to decide its okay I guess.

Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Trying to understand User/Subcsriber … how and why?Oops. I said the wrong thing. It is checked and I knew it was checked, but I guess I initially assumed that had to do with people subscribing to get email updates of new posts.
I don’t know know anyone can subscribe as a “user” and I don’t know why anyone would want to. I’ve seen threads about how people try do it in hopes that you have the default role set to admin. One thread mentioned the same user name and email address subscribing to all their blogs to hack in and that he should be deleted, and to “uncheck” the “anyone can register” option. So not sure if I should or not.

In reply to: Prevent need to confirm to follow posts? It’s self-hosted www.ads-software.com site.
Yes, I am aware of the Follower Settings on the Settings>Reading page and told you what they said. I’ll paste it here.
Follower Settings
These settings change emails sent from your blog to followers.
Blog follow email text
Introduction text sent when someone follows your blog. (Site and confirmation details will be automatically added for you.)Comment follow email text
Introduction text sent when someone follows a post on your blog. (Site and confirmation details will be automatically added for you.)Nowhere does it give the option to ask for email confirmation or not. It just provides a place to format the email that WILL be sent if someone checks the box to follow comments.
To be clear, I’m not saying that anytime someone comments on a post they get this email. Only if they check the box saying they’d like to follow comments. I’d just like the option to NOT have to confirm by email that they do, in fact, want to follow comments.
I appreciate your help, by the way.

In reply to: Prevent need to confirm to follow posts? No. When you go to Settings>Reading there are Follower Settings. In that area is a place to format the emails for “Blog follow email text” and “Comment follow email text”. It’s a WordPress thing with no option to simply not send an email at all. Not on that page anyway.
On the Settings>Discussion page, at the bottom is a section for Jetpack Subscription Settings, which is a plugin, of course. You check whether or not there is an option for visitors to “Follow blog” and “Follow comments”. Yet on the Reading page, as mentioned above, it does not say Jetpack or any other plugin name.
This leads me to wonder if I could get the options I want with the right plugin, though. Do you know?
Okay then. Thanks for clearing that up.

In reply to: Google Authorship MarkupI just tried suggestions found in this article https://www.ilmigo.com/fix-hfeed-warning-field-set-hatomentry.html
However, it’s not specific to my theme, which is Pinboard, so the code I was supposed to look for wasn’t what it said to look for. I’m so confused!

In reply to: Google Authorship MarkupThanks, elmalak. I had actually already changed that. I works to link to my google profile, but I’m still having trouble.
I just started researching the error codes and I know that’s the key to fixing it. I’ve found a few people talking about how to fix the errors, but so far I’m still stuck.
