Thank you so much for your explanation of how the plugin works now.
Me and several of my clients used the previous version and had no issue with the scan crippling our hosting resources. Most are on shared hosting, and the ones that had numbers like you posted for the large site are on VPS. We have plenty of RAM for scanning our databases, which we keep super clean and don’t use plugins or such that bloat it. But I can see where that would certainly not be the case for all site owners. So, I understand why you gave a choice of scan size first, and why you are working on a version that can handle super large sites.
I also appreciate knowing that whatever number scan you select, it goes on to the next batch on the next scan.Thank you for continuing support for this plugin. It is VERY helpful when you need to change/remove certain blocks on the whole site.
I’ll update my tutorial on how to use it.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Subscribe To Comments Reloaded] Address not found on manage subscriptionsThank you!!!!!
Thank you for checking into this. Two conditions had to be met to get it to run – IP whitelisted at Cloudflare and turning off ModSecurity at the host, as it triggered both of their OWASP settings.
Many hosts have turned off so many rules in ModSecurity that it is practically worthless for security now. But the host me and my clients are on has pretty strict security, which we like.I’m so fed up with the hubris of devs I could scream.
LOTS of site owners set these things up once and forget them. NONE of them pay attention to logos in those sidebars.
ALL of them who are switching from other plugins to this one will have 2 similar plugins, at least at first.
And it’s not evident that there is a way to easily import from other plugins. That should be prominent.
You asked for feedback. I’m telling you what me and my peeps saw and didn’t see. But if you are like most devs and think the way you see it is all that counts, or your plugin is perfect and end users are stupid, then there you go.

In reply to: Reorder Gallery images in 5.9 RC3I’m not trying to drag the whole gallery to another location in the post.
I’m trying to drag the images in the gallery into a different order when in the Edit Gallery pop up, not the post editor.
We can currently just click on the image and drag it around. They just snap back into place now.

In reply to: [Spam protection, Anti-Spam, FireWall by CleanTalk] missing fileI also contacted the WPFC dev and he said that I would have a nounce problem in about 12 hours and that I also needed to add a time out rule like the one shown here https://www.wpfastestcache.com/tutorial/wordpress-nonce-cache/

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup does not startI created a new site on WP 5.7, which is what all of my sites and client’s sites are on that are failing.
And added my standard security and such as that may be in play too.
The backup failed with the same symptom and log file as before.
I grilled my host about there being a change to PHP, and finally got to server admin support level. There has indeed been a minor release/tweak to PHP on some servers. They corrected, but I now have to use the RewriteRule .* – [E=noabort:1] on it too. Never had any issues on any Litespeed server until now, so had never needed it. And just that didn’t fix the issue either. Took that and the tweak at the host.
I ran phpinfo script and it is at 7.4.16
They did not disclose what the tweak was even though I asked for details.
Even though it is working now, I did run the other script you requested for the disk free space. It returned float(1974479990784)
On one of my client’s sites that was having the same issue after we migrated from SiteGround to another host with a Litespeed server, I had installed my UDP Migrator plugin and it ran the backup.
I took that out and installed the UDP free version again. It ran that time, and without me having to install the noabort code.
So, I don’t know if the host made tweaks across all servers that ended up fixing it or what.
I’ll be helping my clients who are on the paid version with what I’ve learned here and will see if that fixes their issue with the auto backups not running and will return here to let you know.
Thank you so much for your help!!

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup does not startI was just giving an update that the free version is not the only one having an issue. And I clearly stated that I directed those folks to contact the vendor for support on the paid version.
In the initial post and in a reply that followed, I clearly stated that those 2 lines were all there was to the log file.
Adding the Litespeed code does not help. It was the first thing I tried.
Yes, I can set up an empty site for us to use. Please clarify what you mean about empty.
I have not updated these sites to WP 5.8 yet, do you want the new one at 5.7.2? I add standard, hard-coded security to all sites in both the .htaccess and wp-config files. Have been using this for years without issue. Is it okay to do that? And I assume you want no other plugins and just the default WP theme. And do you want me to add the line in the .htaccess file too?

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup does not startI asked all of my clients to check their backups and 2 of them are reporting that the auto backup schedule is not taking a backup on their paid versions of UDP.
I have asked them to open a ticket with support and give them all details and any error logs or such.
I also put this issue out on my blog and am hearing from more folks having issues with UDP free. They are at different hosts, but some are at the same host, just different servers.
I have asked my host if there was a PHP minor update and they said no.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup does not startI switched one site to PHP 7.3 and ensured that all of the extensions and options possible were set the same.
Had the same issue with the backup and no PHP errors.
I’m a site tech and I’ve asked my clients to check their backups. Only the folks running the free version are having issues. They are non-techs, and I don’t think they would be helpful in troubleshooting at this level. Plus there would be 300-400 new tickets here for it, so I’ve asked them to hold up on reporting until you and I can get it sorted.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup does not startI don’t understand how that would be the logical next step in the troubleshooting.
– There are no PHP errors.
– I’ve been using PHP 7.4.x for at least 9 months without issue.
– I don’t have the ability to go down to a lower point version, only to 7.3.x, and I’m not willing to do that due to the potential for creating other issues.
– Paid UDP works on the same siteForum: Plugins
In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup does not startSorry, let me rephrase. It is empty except for the test script error (I actually have my own that I use).
And I removed UDP free and put my UDP Migrator plugin on two of the sites having issues and it worked on both.
All of my clients and webmasters are reporting that their paid UDP versions are working, as are mine on the sites on which I have them.
So, maybe that rules out the anything at the host, maybe not. But it definitely limits the issue to the free UDP version.
