I will check with my designer to see about the spot it is displaying. I have a totally custom theme, but the base had a scroll effect on the header area that we removed, and maybe there is a conflict there.
As mentioned, I did update to the latest version, which was 3.0.6 and it was still throwing errors.
I just re-activated the plugin again and monitored the new error log file I had created. No errors.
So, perhaps I was still seeing a lag of error output after I had updated. Right now it seems to be stable after monitoring for about 10 minutes. I’ll keep an eye on it.

In reply to: Siteground adding code to suppress Site Heath featureI was unaware that SG is considered managed hosting. That’s such a broad term that many hosts are using it and what it includes on SG is not listed anywhere, especially the fine details of directives added without permission or knowledge of the client.
I’m also dismayed that many of the management features are inserted without explicitly letting clients know or giving a way to opt out.
Publishing a KB article or burying that info in this type of thread is NOT the same as actually alerting folks.
Instead, we waste time with 4 support tickets to get the info about something that just showed up, or trying to figure out why a local clone of a site broke when using a backup plugin or such.
I’m also very concerned about the legalities of this pseudo managed position SG has put itself into of updating WP, PHP, and tweaking WP features that could break sites. Most of those features are not for the site owner’s benefit. They mainly function to keep the servers safe, which I get why you would want to do that, but not keeping folks informed is not a good way to do it.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO: Search Index Purge] PHP Warning: Cannot modify header informationWorking on a client site and see this same error firing multiple times a day, every day, in the PHP error log file since the plugin was installed.
The site was recently updated from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.2. Didn’t help.

In reply to: [Scriptless Social Sharing] Buttons not displaying properly on mobileThank you, Robin. I’ll see what speed affects using the icons has.
And, I’ll check with my designer, as we used a specific icon set for follow buttons, to help with speed too. Thanks Bill, will do!!

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Title and Meta Description disappear when clickedWith the old version, at least you had the chance to copy the whole thing and paste it into the empty field where you could then tweak.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Title and Meta Description disappear when clickedI disagree that it totally disappearing is how it should work. I see a lot of folks forget to type in the rest of the template info, like the separator and the site title.
Why make folks start over from scratch every time?

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] meta description in rich snippet not correctKim, stripping out the comments is definitely CloudFlare minification and is fine.
The social tag conflict is most definitely the Social Warfare plugin, and is what is causing the SEO issues. I’ve notified the devs, but they are working on other issues with their plugin and it may be a while before this gets fixed.
The OG and Twitter settings have to be turned off in Yoast or they will double, hence the conflict warning y’all might want to put in.
The SW code is above the Yoast code, which puts the tags out of order for what Google picks up. OG and Twitter are now above the meta name description.
If there is a social media description in the SW plugin, then that’s what will get picked up. If it’s left blank, then the first text on the page/post is picked up. Never sees the Yoast meta description. So, triples the workload.
Since SEO trumps shares, I’ve replaced the SW plugin on my main site for now, but still have it on the training site and happy to share my test results with you.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] meta description in rich snippet not correctKim, I’ve found the problems, and it will likely lead to another conflict warning in the Yoast plugin. I’m working with the other plugin devs and would be happy to work with y’all via back channels to resolve this properly before that conflict warning gets put in, and before I go public with setting changes and such.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] meta description in rich snippet not correctThanks so much Kim for taking a look. I had a major theme revamp and traded out a lot of plugins at the time too. Added one that may be duplicating the social tags. I can’t believe I missed that 2nd set!!! Thanks for catching it.
For the stripped out comments, that’s probably the minification from CloudFlare. I don’t have the test site running through it.
I’ll get those duplicates out and see if the SEO meta description gets picked up again.
Thanks again for your help and delighted it’s not likely a Yoast issue after all!!!

In reply to: [Login Lockdown & Protection] Repeatedly locking me outMichael, wanted to let you know that since I manually blocked that other IP address that was hammering the site, I haven’t had any more trouble with being locked out.
But, did have the same situation on another client’s site. Once we blocked the offending IP, she no longer had trouble being locked out. And the IP addresses for both IPv4 and IPv6 were very different, just as they were on my site.
So, definitely something that the plugin is triggering on, but hard to say what. Thing is, if it’s just getting overwhelmed and locking everyone out, maybe that’s not such a bad bug ??
