Please delete this *bump* (but not the above message) — I forgot to read the Forum rules first and just now saw the paragraph where it said:
Moderators will delete bumps they find. This is in order to help you get back into the No Replies listing, where you are more likely to get an answer.
Thanks.

In reply to: Homepage 301 redirects to itselfI’d definitely do what dphyled suggests first. Another possibility is this:
A few days ago, I had a similar issue after setting a 301 (Permanent Redirect) URL in the htaccess file, then changing the URL and the browser keeping on redirecting to the old URL. Even removing the 301 line from the htaccess file and clearing browser cache didn’t help.
Turns out it was a DNS cache issue. Some browsers manage DNS caching differently. I use Firefox which in its default state doesn’t make it easy to flush the DNS cache. I installed a Firefox extension called DNS Flusher which did a nice job taking care of the issue, then I was able to successfully assign the 301 to a different URL.
I think the redirect plugin you used modified the htaccess file and created a similar scenario as mine. Or you have some setting misconfigured as mentioned by dphyled. Nonetheless, flushing the DNS cache in your browser is what you may need to do. Do that with the redirect plugin disabled and see if that fixes the redirect issue.

What about asking Softaculous your question?I was in cPanel and clicked on Softaculous and couldn’t find their contact info. Erroneously thought that Softaculous was a product owned by WordPress. But upon your suggestion, I viewed Softaculous as if it was a company instead of just a product, and found their main website. Found their contact info. I’ll contact them soon.
Tara, I will contact Softaculous and see what they say since they probably deal with it all the time. If they have nothing else to suggest, I’ll try what you suggested. Thanks.
