If you’re going to pass a set of query arguments, you need to also include the custom post type like below.

<?php query_posts('post_type=YOUR-CUSTOM-POST-TYPE&orderby=title&order=ASC'); ?>

You’d have to manually edit the database which I would avoid. Posts, pages, attachments, and revisions all generate a new ID. How exactly are you going about pagination? There are other methods you could use for pagination that don’t depend on the ID’s being in sequence.

This happens to me as well.

What changes? Template file changes (styles, layout, etc)? Or Content changes?

Could be how PHP is configured on the sever. Is SuPHP or DSO configured as the PHP Handler?

The front end is blank? Seems to be displaying fine to me. Or is the admin blank?

Edit your themes archive.php file (or add one if it doesn’t exist), and add a category parameter to your query_post function. Such as:

query_posts('cat=4');

“4” being the category ID for your news category.

Have you tried placing it directly in the wp-admin directory?

The new theme probably doesn’t include the_excerpt, or otherwise requires some customization.
