this works great. except the image effects do mess it up. is there a way to turn image effects off in just the widget, so they can still be used in the regular galleries?

In reply to: comments not workingdo you have comments turned on in your admin settings? if not, turn them on, then go into all your posts and turn them on there too. once they are turned on in your settings, every post from now on will have commenting enabled.

In reply to: Newby alert, pages and index creationyou’re using pages wrong. You should be doing that with categories. If you want something static on the front page, you can set a static home page through your admin. Or you can use a ‘welcome’ or ‘sticky’ post plugin to have your welcome message at the top of your homepage, then posts listed under that. You can set how many posts show on the home page in your admin also.

In reply to: Posts not showing up in categories, I do not understand WordPressin your admin, go to settings (or options, depending on what version of wp you have) then go to ‘reading’ and you will see a setting for how many posts to show on your home page or blog page.

In reply to: Posts not showing up in categories, I do not understand WordPressI don’t understand your problem. All your posts are showing when you click on the ‘stuff’ category. What is that link that you gave? Its just a link to a page you created. Pages don’t have categories, only posts have categories.

In reply to: font size problemsOh man, i spelled a word wrong BURN!! im shamed into silence!!
i think the OP can decide whether she wants to change ONE number to fix her problem, or a dozen. EMs are great but px is just fine. complain to the theme author if youre still feeling righteous. this topic should be closed.

In reply to: font size problemsI can’t believe you think its necessary for him to overhaul his whole theme with EMs instead of just changing ONE number. Like I said, some people just want to blog. Your designer snobbery does them no good. One way WordPress kicks major ass is specifically because its so user friendly that non designers and non web gurus can have huge control over their own site. There’s no need to try and make people feel like they ‘should’ know things like EM percentage based font sizes just to share their info with the world.
Rediculous.

In reply to: font size problemsim not saying the OP is an idiot, but why tell him how to build a house when all he needs to do is move the furniture around? not everyone who comes here has the desire to learn to become a web designer. some people just want to blog.

In reply to: font size problemsdont you think the EM talk is a little over the head of the original poster? if they cant figure out how to change the font size of their theme, do you really think they are going to be able to convert it all to EMs? they arent like px, where you just set a number you want. you have to set the base size, then do calculated percentage based changes for everything else.
help and advice is useless unless you keep it at the level of the user.
