My apologies this was totally down to the Empyer theme being faulty. Thanks for the advice here.
Just for your own information, any themes bought from ThemeForest have Terms and Conditions applied that the author does NOT have any obligation to support a user with the theme. I found this author indeed to be extremely opposed to any kind of support at all.
I’m not using one with no issues at all which I got from www.ads-software.com

    *Update
Thankfully ThemeForest checked out the Empyer theme and decided it was indeed faulty, and I’ve secured a refund.
Sorry for posting here in the first place, I’ve now got a theme form www.ads-software.com

Yes I’ve emailed but go no response. I’ve left messages on the feedback page where I bought it, no reply.
I suspect even if he does reply, it’s not going to be well after Christmas, so I was hoping I could find help somewhere else. Pretty shabby when you actually pay for something.
What I’ll do is take the theme off, and see if one of WordPress’s own themes offers the same result, then someone might help.
Thanks for taking time to reply.

Sadly it doesn’t work, I can only assume that somehow the theme I’m using has broken WordPress, as there are other faults with it.
    Thanks for your help anyway.

No, this is the basic calendar widget that comes with WordPress. What more info do you need? Happy to supply.
I was sure I’d put the site but I missed it off, you can view it at https://www.thelastgreatadventure.com

Oh my apologies, never even thought of that. I imagined that as this was about WordPress, someone may have the theme, as I do.
I don’t think it’s inappropriate at all, unless there is a rule of the forum that disbars me form asking about theme’s not held on www.ads-software.com, in which case I apologise. However, if not then if anyone does have the theme and can help, I’d appreciate it greatly.

Well I’ve had some luck already.
I opened the sql backup file and used notepad to change all the url’s to the new domain.
That didn’t make anything work, but I was looking at the links on the posts and they all had the same format: www.(domain)/archives

So I created an empty folder in the root called ‘archives’, and lo and behold, all my posts now show, even though there is nothing in that archive folder!
I have no clue what I’ve done but it appears to work.

Looks like no-one has a clue. I’m on my own then eh.

I have found all my posts in WordPress admin. They all have permalinks which do not exist. Did WordPress used to make posts an actually page instead of just referencing the database?
So, with one post, I edited it, then saved it as a draft, then republished it. However, the link on the front page still points to a folder, not to the post in the database?
Maybe that will help someone help me work out how to view all posts.
