In that case, perhaps the Theme Handbook shouldn’t recommend installing it. Are the forums not the right place to ask questions about the WP documentation? I looked through the handbook trying to find more explicit instructions about where to post questions/feedback, and didn’t find anything along those lines in the handbook itself, so I fell back on the more generic pointers, which led me here. In my experience, most open-source projects welcome such feedback, but if the WP community doesn’t work that way, I’ll gladly refrain from further engagement. ??

Thanks for the reply. In that case (assuming you’re saying that overriding the font size will be able to solve both of the outstanding anomalies I reported) I’m closing this ticket. If my assumptions turn out to be wrong, or the workaround uncovers other problem with the current default theme that I’m unable to resolve, I’ll open a separate ticket.

The mobile version looks great, thanks! The desktop anomalies are still there, though. In this example you can see that the image is obscuring the end of the link’s text, and here you can see the problem I reported in my original message above.

I could probably come up with a workaround for at least the first problem (presumably your markup and style rules didn’t anticipate the font size used by the current default theme, and I could just reduce it), but fixes that you come up with will be more robust than mine, because mine would risk being broken by future changes you might make in ways that your fixes could avoid. And this way all of your customers who use (or derive from) the current default theme will benefit from the fixes.
