In reply to: [Gutenberg] Featured Image Slider/Carousel?Hi there,
To answer your question would result in a larger discussion. A slider/carousel involves more than one image. For a normal post or page there is no option to upload more than one ‘feature image’, which is a very specific functionality behind it.You might need to go about it a slightly different way
And you have some options:
1) make the homepage a static page: Settings > Reading > Static page and just place a slider/carousel block on top of the homepage from one of the plugins you already found.
2) Look for a theme, that provides this kind of functionality.
3) you could put all the pictures into a small video, and add it to the cover block on top of the page.
I am running out of ideas right now. If I think of some more ways to accomplish this, I’ll add a comment here.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a single answer to your question.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Gutenberg] remove highlighted backdrop in wordpress editorHi there:-) Seems you have all kinds of color issues. Pinkish backdrop? Can you provide a link to a screenshot, please or exact steps to reproduce what you are seeing?

In reply to: [Gutenberg] yellow ”post updated’ barIt’s hard to imagine, what you are seeing, or better what the message is covering. The message should go away on it own after a few seconds, too. Do you have a screenshot of what you are seeing? What’s the button you need to reach?

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Media & Text – Stack on Mobile SitewideI totally agree. It’s very early in the life cycle of Gutenberg/Block editor. And it’s – for me – very interesting to see this evolve. Issue that surface and the discussion around them. But that’s just me. Other people need things to just work and get on with their real work.
Not only new challenges, also new ideas of new features, that weren’t even possible in the old – pardon me- Classic editor. Like your – site-wide default setting for one of the blocks. Creating a Media + Text section on your post of page wouldn’t not have been possible with a huge extension of the existing install.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Keyboard shortcut for ‘convert to block’It’s a good question. For my own Gutenberg migration to blocks, I just keep away from converting old posts. Only when i have to edit them I make a decision if I need to convert them to block and most of the time, I just keep them in the Classic Block and edit them there.
The Classic Block, different form the Classic Editor plugin is a part of Gutenberg and will always be there as an option.I am however not quite sure, I understood the problem in need of a solution. Could you try again, if my comment don’t address what you are looking for?

In reply to: [Gutenberg] apply changes to multiple blocksAh, no. Not right now. It’s on the radar of Gutenberg developers but didn’t make it into the priority list yet.
If you want to get it some more attention, feel free to comment on the Github issue here

In reply to: [Gutenberg] How to create a blank line in Gutenberg editor?Glad that the spacer block is a working alternative for you.
The spacer has a small blue dot in the middle of the bottom edge you can use to drag to make the optimal space for you. The block specific settings tab allows you to set the height of the spacer.
Here is the documentation for the Spacer Block- This reply was modified 5 years, 11 months ago by Birgit Pauli-Haack.
Good morning, I did a little research and discovered that there is a known bug when you go back to a previous version of Gutenberg. The version in 5.1.1 is Gutenberg 4.8 – once you deactivated Gutenberg 5.3 that older version became active again and triggered the error message. That’s if I understood this correctly.
So, first, see if the problem persists when you activate Gutenberg 5.3 again.
There will be also be a fix available in the 5.4, scheduled to be released on Wednesday.
Hmm, that’s unfortunate.
The error message is a bit too cryptic to make any sense without context
Sorry for that…Are you able to load the content into the classic editor?
When you saw the earlier message with the three buttons, did you by any chance use the ‘Copy error” button?
Can you reproduce the first error? and jot down the configuration? without any other plugin loaded?
the error message ‘Call to a member function is_block_editor() on null’ seems to be triggered by the Gutenberg plugin, but I am wondering if the function call could come from a different process….

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Media & Text – Stack on Mobile SitewideThere isn’t a setting in the editor to apply specific block settings by default side wide.
Yes, you can certainly do this via CSS, but the cleaner version would be to do this with a small plugin that extends the existing block and make the attribute a default one for this new block. Here is the page in the developers handbook about extending core blocks
With this solution you are to tight to a specific theme for the setting to work.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Gutenberg] How to Make Cover Image ResponsiveHmm, I tested it in the chrome browser on my desktop as well as in the chrome browser and also in Firefox Focus browser, and it seems to be responsive. What I did realize is that the image itself cuts off the woman’s head to the right, when it displays it on the mobile. It that also what you are seeing? Or are you using a different browser? You might need to have your theme developer adjust for a different browser.
If the image cropping is part of your concern I would select an image where the subject matter is move slightly to the middle of the image. Then the mobile version will also display is better.Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [Gutenberg] rerrange your custom reusable blocksHi there, glad you are enjoying the reusable blocks so extensively.
Have you tried the Slash command + partial block name in your editor? And example: I use a media + text block for the announcement of our Live Q & A. And I create one for every event. I prefix them with “lqa: April 5” then when I want to add it to the next post or page, I hit enter at the end of the previous block that gives me a new line and then I type “/lqa” and then gives me a list of the blocks starting with “lqa” and I can select the one I need via the arrow keys.
you can use the slash command for inserting any kind of block and it works like the search on top of the block inserter.
Let me know if I explained it well enough. If not come back here and let me know what doesn’t work.
To rename your reusable blocks you can do that via Top Menu – 3 dots menu – “Manage reusable blocks”. You probably found this space already.Good luck!

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Gutenberg not loading properlyIt’s possible that there is a plugin conflict, especially with plugins that interacted previously with the classic editor or are part of 3rd party page building experience.
Install the Health & Troubleshooting plugin. Without interrupting the site for the public, this plugin empowers you to disable all plugins and activate a default theme like Twenty Seventeen. See if it’s still not loading correctly and then enable one plugin at a time, until it breaks again.
Let us know what you find!
