Hi Christine, when you say that Firebug gave you this snippet…where does it do that?

I installed Firebug yesterday, but the only thing I have been able to figure out with it, is that it will show me the actual css, if I hover over the header(logo) on my page.

Which tells you to put the following code in your css. I put it in
Appearance>Theme Options>Layout>Custom CSS, but I think the author wanted in the style.css.

This is what it says to do…

Add the following lines to your CSS section:

#header input#s {
display: none;
}

I found out that it is a slider that comes with the theme.

Isn’t this in appearance>theme options and you toggle “Full posts to display on first page” and depending on your layout, it posts a couple of full posts and then goes into your grid system which you can set at 2 or whatever?
