In reply to: [WordPress Share Buttons Plugin – AddThis] caching scriptHi Shkasjon,
The addthis_widget.js is already cached. We use an ETag to tell the browser how to cache it. Some page performance sites are looking for the older style caching headers so it may appear that there is no caching on that URL to them. That URL is also backed by our CDN, so there are also locality improvements as well.
Is there a specific issue you are having?

In reply to: [WordPress Share Buttons Plugin – AddThis] Destroys site speedPerformance is one of our top priorities that we try to balance with the rich set of features that have been requested. Keep in mind that performance tools, such as Google Page Speed, show the cold cache and no cookie experience that few users will have due to our reach. We’d love to work with you to find out how or why our tools have impacted your site. Please reach out to us at [email protected] and we’d be happy to assist you.
About the price – our tools have always been available for free with no usage limits. We do offer modest paid plans with additional features, such as reduced branding and other customization options.
Hi Marco,
Thanks for the feedback. I’m thrilled to hear that we are your go to for your social sharing needs. Our tools have a lot of configuration options and we believe that putting them all in the admin dashboard would be overwhelming for the vast majority of users. A great place to start learning about some of these options is the AddThis Academy (https://www.addthis.com/academy/) and the support links that Julka mentioned. We’ll consider your suggestion for future versions of the plugin.
Thanks again,

In reply to: [WordPress Share Buttons Plugin – AddThis] Great tools but annoying configAn AddThis account is not required to use our Sharing Buttons plugin. If you already have an AddThis account then we encourage you to keep the plugin linked to you account because you will continue to get analytics and an extended set of features.
However, if you do want run in a WordPress only mode (“passive” as you put it) then do the following (5.0+ instructions):
1) Go to the ‘Advanced Options’ tab
2) Select “WordPress” in the “I want to control my plugin from…” section
3) Clear your “AddThis Profile ID” from the “AddThis Analytics” section
4) Save ChangesForum: Reviews

In reply to: [WordPress Share Buttons Plugin – AddThis] Great tools but annoying configHi Jory,
Glad to hear you like our tools. While the AddThis dashboard has our advanced configuration it is possible to configure our Sharing and Follow buttons from within our plugins.
You can configure where to control your plugins from in the Advanced Options tab. See from our screenshots. And here is an example of the in WordPress configuration.
We are working on improving the WordPress/AddThis dashboard experience in upcoming versions.
Thanks,
-BradHi Dreduq, thanks for using our plugin and giving us feedback. We’ve taken a look at your site and have a few ideas on what the issue is. Please reach out to us at [email protected] and we can help you with your specific case.
Hi, I’m sorry to hear that you are having issues with our plugin. It certainly isn’t our intent to outrage anyone. If you email [email protected] with the URL to your site we can better assist you with getting Pinterest, Google Plus, or other services set up on your site.
The values you set in your admin panel for our plugin should remain consistent. We are looking into some reports of conflicts between this plugin, some of our other plugins, and some themes. With more information our support team can help you there as well.
Regarding the EU WCAG 2.0 (or US Section 508 for that matter), we take web accessibility seriously. Due to the scope of the internet, it isn’t possible to test all of the situations our tools are rendered in. If there is a specific way we are in non-compliance please let us know here or at [email protected] as well.

In reply to: [WordPress Share Buttons Plugin – AddThis] Replacement for AddThis@jamk and @kilzac, We actually have great tools that give developers more options than we can offer in the WordPress plugin. The AddThis dashboard based configuration allows us to do this by providing a simple out of box experience for new users of the plugin. For more advanced users, like yourselves, the dashboard provides the features you are looking for through the HTML version and our APIs.
For custom positioning see the Smart Layers API
For managing multiple sites and profiles see Using Profiles
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are looking into this issue and will get back to you soon.
