Right after I posted this, I realized the fact I’m using Tiled Galleries is why the images are loading from wp.com. But, I still can’t get Carousel to activate and load the images.

@jeremy Herve: Hi! I see with the recent update the sharing icons are gone from the recent images ephemera, but the Google+ author information is still showing up. It doesn’t show up on the recent galleries widget, so I’m not sure why it’s still showing up on the recent images widget. Is that something that’s still being addressed?

You don’t have to recreate everything if you just activate Twenty Fourteen on your blog. At most you would have to rearrange your widgets. I upgraded from Twenty Thirteen to Twenty Fourteen with no issues, except a little trouble getting the featured post grid to show up. None of my plugins or widgets were broken though.

To create the theme and modify it separately, you would have to have another blog for testing and copy all of your widgets, content, plugins etc. Probably too much trouble. It only took me an hour to get everything sorted out the way I liked it on my blog after upgrading.

All I did to get mine working was set featured images for the desired posts, run the Thumbnail Regenerate plugin, open customize, change “featured” to another tag, then saved, then changed it back to “featured” and it worked.

I just realized that the sharing buttons are still showing below images in the images ephemera widget, but only on post pages.

@wpyogi: My bad. I thought it would make more sense to have one thread about one problem than multiple threads dealing with the same issue.

That didn’t work for me. That just moved sticky posts to the top of the listed blog entries.

I was having this issue. I used the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin linked to above and it fixed everything. Great tool, by the way. It also works when you upload an iPhone photo and it is initially displayed sideways. Once it’s edited, you can regenerate thumbnails so all sizes show up with the correct orientation.
