just closing the loop on this one…
After extensive investigation and stepping through the code, I found where it is coming from and why.
Freemius (embedded within FooGallery and other plugins) makes calls to?www.ads-software.com?API within the file “class-fs-plugin-updater.php” :?
https://github.com/Freemius/wordpress-sdk/blob/master/includes/class-fs-plugin-updater.php#L928
Dreamhost deploys the following plugin to all of their WordPress sites and activates it by default:
https://gist.github.com/bradvin/54bfdb40b72f6faae396ed71f1212ed5
There is no way to disable the plugin, as they remove the row from the plugin listing page within the WP admin.
https://gist.github.com/bradvin/54bfdb40b72f6faae396ed71f1212ed5#file-dreamhost-panel-login-php-L173
They also intercept all HTTP requests and check if the call was the update endpoint on wp.org and manipulate the response. They do not cater for the calls that Freemius SDK makes to that endpoint mentioned above, and a fatal error ensues.
To fix the bugs, a simple check can be made to check as commented on that gist page. Unfortunately, this needs to be done by Dreamhost and rolled out to all their sites.
Anyone with this issue, please contact Dreamhost and link to this ticket and ask them to fix their plugin code.

You are right the condition is redundant ?? I have also updated my code, so thanks
Hey @marcuss
I suspect it is the media menu extension that is causing the errors. Try deactivate it and see if you get the warnings
hey @marcuss are you running the whitelabelling feature of FooGallery PRO by any chance?
I have looked at the code, and the last update did not include any changes in the area that is now throwing the PHP warning you see, and 1 potential area that could cause a problem could be the whitelabelling
<font _mstmutation=”1″ _msttexthash=”17472″ _msthash=”196″>Hi</font> @kurapika
Apologies for any inconvenience caused – that was not our intention. When we realised that the free version was behind, we released to get it up to date.
The truth is the free version of FooBox has been quite stable over the last 2 years and has not needed that many updates.
We will not let this happen in future again<font _mstmutation=”1″></font>
@steveush pls can you investigate this
@clintau24 thanks for testing that. It can only then be your theme, or your host that is adding the spinning wheel. I doubt it would be your host, so it must be your theme. You can test this by changing your theme temporarily to a WordPress default theme like twenty twenty one. Please give that a quick go and let me know
hi @clintau24 the spinning wheel you are seeing should not be there in a default WordPress install, which means there is another plugin (or your theme) interfering on that page for some reason. Can you test disabling all other plugins except FooGallery, and try the same steps Elvis suggested again please. I am interested to know which one of your plugins is adding that spinning wheel to the screen options menu and why
Hey @efquintana
Thanks for taking the time to post your review.
I am sorry about the notifications coming back. They should be hidden after you dismiss them and not come back, so there is an issue causing them to be shown constantly on your site, which I would like to fix with your help, if you are keen to assist? If so pls email me brad @ fooplugins . com
Also, there is a setting to permanently hide/disable the “upgrade to pro” notification, which will ensure that is never shown again in future. Look for it on the FooGallery settings page
Hi @vijaymaloo
What host are you using? It looks like bitnami?
Following the error message, it looks like your server is not loading the correct file and is instead loading a generic functions.php
We will be fixing this in the next release but it will be good to confirm your host to see what type of impact this has
Hi @jakemckee23
Server folders cache refresh every 24 hours to increase performance. You can force a refresh by updating the gallery without making any changes. That will clear the cache.
hi @mrwrighty & @chillinr1
Can you please download and test this version : https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/foogallery.2.2.22.zip
We have started testing, and if both yours and our testing goes well, we will release to everyone.
thanks!
hi @spagel
I think this will solve your problem of the aspect ratio : https://fooplugins.com/foogallery-wordpress-gallery-plugin/background-fill/
