one more thing about Ez-Web-Hosting (see my response above) – they actually created a script for me to backup my SQL databases at Noon everday. Yes, they back everything up every night at midgnight, but I asked them about this and they did it. Basically the SQL databses get dumped into my home directory and from there i dl them.

hey i would love to help out! give me access to www.ads-software.com and let me install a forum that has better capabilities than this one, works with an image gallery for people to showcase their sites using screenshots, and where you have better control and organization.

that’s one thing i could do. i mean, if you go to that mambo cms program’s site, or you go to uhh coppermine’s sourceforge site, and many many other’s, they all have forums that can pretty much do what everyone is looking for.

oh, and i know there weren’t any promises made to implement anything, but how can you not see the need for a better support system?

sooooo… are the users of WP going to get a better and more user-friendly forum? Are these issues above going to be addressed?

Besides the wonderous “edit” option (excuse my sarcasm) but let’s cut to the chase and be frank shall we? practically every other open-source software or company that has a support forum, has a forum that is more user friendly than this one.

and you guys need to get some News posted in one general place somewhere that specifically relates to the product itself. I know that others will agree when I say that it seems quite funny to see an article on the WP Admin front page relating to some festival that one of the developers is going to attend, yet here we are trying to coordinate and suggest pertinent suggestions and ideas yet we get no response.

you should seriously consider https://coppermine.sourceforge.net because if you plan to have a lot of photos, specially every day, or more, there’s no better way to organize them. plus, it’s seperate from WP. so if anything happens to WP you dont lose your photos. it’s the best. then you just upload a photo into coppermine and link to it in your blog entry. you can also have links from gallery back to blog. you can also use coppermineFetch to grab images from gallery to display like in menu of your blog or ANY php page for that matter.

sorry, i shouldnt have been so abrupt. and i dont mean to knock your decision to use cafepress. but they make all the money. and they aren’t screenprinted tshirts, they’re dye sublimated.

i dont this isnt a huge idea, and i’m not trying to push the idea (well a little) but i was thinking more along the lines of colored shirts (or shirt, depending on shirt color) as well as a different design, maybe something to represent wp for all kinds of bloggers, news, personal, artsy, etc.

Ming that’s a good idea. I think i’m going to go with my idea and start a community, knowledge base, tutorial wiki, downloads, repository for links, some kind of news system for certain people to update on the main page with news. heck, turn it into a community put a gallery for people to display their blogs (like gallery.menalto.org does with displaying people who run their gallery system) even a dating thing, top sites, etc. etc.

actually the more i think about this, someone *ahem* should create another wp community, if one doesn’t exist.

a daily blog of updates, a forum, tutorials, hacks, plugins, like the WP codex and all that already exists is great, but nothing wrong with another resource. only helps spread the flag.

maybe we ought to create a wordpress site like wpforums.org where people can go and install a real forum script. sorry no offense, only good intentions here. hell i’d pay the $8 a month just to run the site myself.

i would prefer to see a better forum bbs system in place. i never understood why i get only like 5 or 6 results when searching for something, without any additional Next or More..

but that’s me. i like things organized (keeps my OCD happy). i am a big fan of SMF https://www.simplemachines.org it’s free, can be integratd and used with other PHP apps like COPPERMINE!!! and has SSI ability too.

plus with coppermine fetch plugin, you can pull images, random, certain ones, to be displayed on ANY PHP page, wordpress or not.

this way, if you ever leave wordpress or it crashes you still got your coppermine.

plus, in the future, is you ever decide to leave WordPress (heathen! LOL) you will still have coppermine on your website.

VERY powerful. EASY to install, maintain. not worht putting all your images into wordpress and something happen to wordpress. besides, coppermine is greatly organized.

also, copperminefetch is a great tool that will pick as many random images or certain ones from your coppermine gallery to be displayed on any php page, including wordpress.
