macmanx… I don’t mean to be insulting, but are you reading my posts? Please do, you’d find statements like this:

Currently, spam scripts do not read the pages they come from at all – they simply target domains and directories. This would require them reading the page… and at that point, they would realize that it’s just not worth the added effort.

I’m all down for intelligent discussion, but I would like for each of us to read each other’s statements before saying things first.

Exactly charle… the point of this specific hack is that it effectively makes every install unique (to an extent). The hackers would be required to write scripts hundreds of times more complex than their current ones to circumvent it. Currently, spam scripts do not read the pages they come from at all – they simply target domains and directories. This would require them reading the page… and at that point, they would realize that it’s just not worth the added effort.
I’m saying it needs to be pre-packaged because the average user is an idiot. Sorry to say… but you know it too. Tell them to edit a PHP file and they’ll just stare at you. If you truely believe the average WP user is capable of applying hacks like this, perhaps you should rethink your position ??

It’s been done, but thanks for chiming in.

Please read the first sentence of my post. Thank you.

I don’t. It’s a feature that, quite frankly, very few people care about. If we were to include an option for every thing in WP that every single minority wanted – we’d have such a complicated options page that new users would be scared off.
Sometimes you have to think whether the feature you’re asking for is really for the common good, or your own good.

Well the WP logo is the WP logo, like it or not. I don’t think much of the IBM logo, but I don’t make up a new one just because I don’t like it.

Hmm… not always. Logos constantly change in today’s world. You’re never stuck with it… especially in open source. Why not choose one you like better? ??

It’s probably the one that Scrivs designed, it’s better (IMO). I guess thanks for putting this out… although I’m a bit sketch about producing it for an alpha version that will be changing. I’ve already changed all my admin interfaces anyway though ??

The issue is comments are already in the database, assigned to future posts. When a post with the future id is posted… the comment appears. There’s a whole section in the codex on it, and it basically entails going into the database and deleting all of the offending comments.

Also remember with blogs your stats can get terribly inflated due to RSS feeds. I get over 1700 “visitors” a month from feeds alone :p
Why do I blog. Funny you should ask that.

I don’t think it’s a bunch of ass-hat comments. It’s just the last time 1.3 was mentioned on the dev blog was back in July. Ouch. Would be nice for the developers to take 2 minutes out of their time to let people know about the progress. I don’t think it’s that unreasonable to ask after they’ve put thousands of hours into WP in the meantime. I’ve been using nightlies and 1.3 is progressing nicely with some wonderful new features. The thing is, you can’t find out about them unless you religiously download nightlies.

Suprised you hadn’t found that earlier… that was my first CSS ‘bug’ Couldn’t figure out for the life of me until I did some research and found it. Actually, I used this example in a job interview once!
Also, for the record, it’s not IE5/Mac’s bad standards… but rather it’s exceptionally good standards when compared to IE/Win, and the fact that it listens to many of the same rules as IE/Win. That’s where issues start to develop and the need for band-pass filters.

The problem here is when you use abbreviations and the like where there are periods in the body. You could use the replace plugin to replace periods with “.  ” But you’d have to be careful not to put periods anywhere else, like using the word etc.

It’s okay… I would have complimented you, except you came off more than egotistical. In fact, even pompus. I don’t like that in designers that aren’t the best in the industry (I know a few that are – and I have no problem with them saying it).
Your site builds off a myriad of design cliche’s and presents almost no real creativity. Neither the structure of the site, nor the look is original. The code has got some nasty stuff in there, style attributes and all.
You’ve got the diagonal lines, the use of itsy-bitsy text, the cliche’d blue, the pixel-fonts, and to top it off the blued out subway scene in the header =/
Honestly, I think the best part of your site is the screenshots of others sites you have.
I am overly critical of people that think they are the best designer ever, so that is why this review is so harsh. Maybe next time you should try being humble.

alphaoide>> Actually I was more going for Scriv’s older designs ?? I suppose it does look quite a bit like StopDesign’s bleached layout (haven’t checked that out since he first mentioned it) though ?? Ah well, all code is definately mine (albeit the ideas for design not so much).
    Thanks for the complements.

It’s interesting… BTW, wordpress has nothing to do with the time change. That’s your server.

A beta will be released once the features are set. A full release will be ready once it’s done.
It’d be nice to get a clear date… but hey, we can’t have everything ?? Honestly – 1.3a4 is very stable. I’ve had very little problems with it. If you’re itching for the new features just use it. That’s my personal reccomendation.
