In reply to: [Theme My Login] How do I modify the profile page?Sweet. Thanks.
Let’s hope it works. It completely broke down our site the last time.

In reply to: Moderators, are trialware plugins allowed on the directory?I had a chance to think about this Samuel, and thanks for taking the time to get back to me. You said this is like a video hosting service. I understand if it was a video hosting service. For example, I pay hundreds of dollars to Vimeo to host my videos and if Vimeo made a plugin to embed videos into my wordpress site which is free but which won’t work unless i had a premium account with them, all of this would make sense and this would not be a trialware by any means even if they gave a 7 day trial for their premium account.
But this spam blocking plugin is not like this. The plugin they are selling is not an outside service. It blocks spam on the wordpress site. It works directly on the wordpress install through the code. They might have created some workaround and created a service to dupe you guys (and that’s the loophole I’m referring to). After 7 days, their spam blocking plugin stops working. This is what trialware is. What am I getting wrong here?

In reply to: Moderators, are trialware plugins allowed on the directory? Thanks for the explanation. I understand how it works now but I feel this loophole should be closed. It’s deceptive. I’ve been deceived several times with such plugins. They are nothing but trialware. You know it.
Close the loophole. How can I escalate this?
Thanks.

In reply to: Moderators, are trialware plugins allowed on the directory? As the plugin uses a service to do the actual work, then we don’t consider that to be trialware as per our guidelines.
The plugin provides absolutely no function after the 7 day period. Do you understand that part? How is that even allowed? It’s just a piece of code that does nothing after 7 days.

In reply to: [Yoast Duplicate Post] Stop beggingHey Rasmus,
The developer is providing an excellent free plugin, if he’s asking for help, it’s not a big deal. I’ve happily donated in the past due to that notice. Do you realize these things take time?
You’re the real beggar, taking stuff for free and not appreciating the services.
Cheer up, buddy.

In reply to: Moderators, are trialware plugins allowed on the directory?Any update on this?
Here is my review that hasn’t resulted in much:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/not-a-free-plugin-9/
I’m pretty sure a lot of these reviews are fake. Is anyone going to look at this?
Also once it appends a number like “-2” or “-3” to the permalink (slug), it does not allow removing it until unless you uninstall the mailmunch plugin.

In reply to: Moderators, are trialware plugins allowed on the directory? The other thing that moderators need to look in is whether all the positive reviews on this plugin are real (or not) …

In reply to: [Spam protection, Anti-Spam, FireWall by CleanTalk] Not a free plugin!!First of all, we do not advertise the plugin as free. We say up front that the plugin is Premium (please look the short description) and you have free trial before switch to Premium version (please look the main description),
This is the definition of trialware, which is in violation of policy no. 5 I quoted above.
The plugin is part for Cloud services (SaaS) and the code of the plugin is free.
The code is free?? What does the free code do exactly?

In reply to: [Spam protection, Anti-Spam, FireWall by CleanTalk] Not a free plugin!!I don’t have a problem with premium plugins. I’ve bought many and used many. Your plugin was listed in the free directory and after 7 days we are told it is not free anymore. If you are only charging for the service, what exactly is the free version of the plugin doing?
Most plugins with premium features provide them as “add-on” features. This is common practice but the free version remains free. Does your free version provide any features? If yes, what are those features?

In reply to: [Spam protection, Anti-Spam, FireWall by CleanTalk] Not a free plugin!!5. Trialware is not allowed in the directory.
Attempting to upsell the user on other products and features is acceptable within limits.
Upsell notifications should not be overly prominent or annoying.
Plugins may not contain functionality that is crippled or locked, only to be unlockable by payment or upgrade. Paid functionality must be part of an externally hosted service or a separate plugin, that is not hosted on www.ads-software.com.
Plugins may not disable included functionality after a trial period or quota.https://developer.www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-org/detailed-plugin-guidelines/
How are you not violating this policy?
